29. Glowing

3rd Person POV

Richard and Valentin flash to the Vampire King’s chamber and see Alexus hovering over their struggling and naked mate. Richard never felt so edgy and desperate in his entire life. The most important person of his life was being harmed by his archenemy. His wolf is on the surface and itching his skin to shift, his hands had already changed into paws. He lets out a powerful growl, as he pulls Alexus off of Lea in one switch move, throwing him to the floor with a loud noise. 

Valentin rushes to his mate and unties her arms using his magic. She curls up into a ball in an intent to cover her nakedness. She was feeling so vulnerable and exposed, not only her body was exposed, but what almost happened to her was also made bare before everyone’s eyes. 

Her Fae mate covers her bare body up with the bedsheet and places her onto his lap before he hovers his palm over the bleeding bite wounds healing and closing them with his warm light. The wounds were quite deep and nasty, Alexus bit her indeed carelessly.

“You are safe Angel, you are alright.” Valentin tries to appease her. “I’ll take you home.” 

“No. We can’t leave them. They will kill each other.” Lea replies as her eyes wander to Richard and Alexus, her voice thick with worry and tension.  

“But Lea...” Valentin starts. 

“No.” She says looking into his eyes. He sighs and wraps his arms around his mate protectively.

In the meanwhile, Alexus, wearing just boxer shorts and still with a visible hard-on stands up and charges towards Richard fast as a flash. Richard dodges his attack, before making his move and launching towards Alexus. 

“Please don’t hurt him,” Lea asked. She wished she could not care, but the mate bond wouldn't allow her otherwise. 

Richard turns around and looks at Lea, shocked by her request. How could she ask for mercy towards the merciless monster that not only tried to violate her but also destroy her mate bonds and condemn her to a life without the other parts of her soul? Richard wonders. Alexus takes advantage of Richard’s distraction and tries to punch him, but his fist never meets Richard’s face. The Vampire King has frozen on his track. 

“The promise,” Lea mutters underneath her breath. “You can’t harm each other.” 

“But I can harm him,” Maximus says, he appeared in a flash a few seconds ago, while the others were too busy to notice his presence. 

He looked at Lea wrapped in Valentin’s arms and wearing a blanket and feels two extreme sensations: his heart tugs painfully as rage consumes him. He will make Alexus pay. 

Laius, Avalon, and Elric also flash to the room. But they don’t intervene, Maximus is the one who should beat the man that tried to violate his daughter to a pulp when her mates and herself aren’t able to do so. 

Maximus punches Alexus, who tried to dodge with his vamp speed, but Maximus’ other fist meets his face first. 

Richard moves and stands in front of his mate in a protective instance. His wolf is ticked off that they can’t rip the throat of the foul who dared to hurt their mate. He is on the verge of shifting; his eyes are glowing dangerously as he is fighting with his wolf for control. The wolf wants to try and attack Alexus anyway, he doesn’t care about any promise. In fact, he can’t even understand it. The beast only sees the fact that the vampire tried to hurt and abuse his mate and he wants to coat the room with Alexus’ blood. 

Maximus chants an Elf charm to reduce Alexus's super-speed. He glows lightly as he knees Alexus’s in the guts with might. The Vampire King bends a bit, but immediately recovers and moves towards Maximus's neck and shoulders to bite him. Alexus didn’t expect to be moving so slowly and his face is met by Maximus’ fist. 

Maximus is a very skilled fighter, but fighting a vampire, and the strongest of them for the matter is a great challenge. Alexus has enhanced senses, speed, and strength, and he can heal instantly as well. However, Maximus is powered by his fury, his indignation, and his will to avenge his daughter; which somehow enhances his own senses. 

“Dad, please don’t!” Lea pleads again. Lea is still in shock and she still couldn't fully process Alexus' dreadful actions.  

“Dad?” Valentin asks in shock, as his eyes grow wide while he looks at Lea. But she is too focused on Alexus and Maximus to even hear the Fae King’s question. 

How can it be? Valentin wonders. The others don’t even acknowledge his question.  

“I can’t, he hurt my little princess.” Maximus answers without taking his eyes away from the Vampire King.  

Alexus is also quite surprised and confused. Lea’s father is an Elf? Maximus takes advantage of Alexus’ little shock and wraps his hand around his enemy’s throat, lifting him few meters from the floor and kicking his stomach.

“Please dad, don’t hurt him! Stop!” Lea insists, she couldn’t take her eyes from the scene playing in front of her.  

Even after everything, Lea couldn’t wish for his death, the mate bond wouldn’t allow her, even if she tried to. Unlike Alexus, she did feel a little pull towards him, and it was enough for her to feel an urge to protect him.

“King Valentin, Alpha Richard, take her out of here!” Maximus barks out.  

“She doesn’t want to go,” Valentin replies, tightening his hold around Lea’s small form. 

Richard’s wolf, Titan, was shredding to the surface, fighting for control; but he couldn’t let his beast force him to shift, he must be in his man form to better comfort his mate. He looked at her small frame, Valentin had her pressed against his chest and two protective arms around her. Her eyes were glued on her father and Alexus, following all their movements with anxiety. How he wanted to be the one punching Alexus, defeating him, and seeing him breathing for the last time as life escaped him. His wolf howled in satisfaction inside his mind at this thought.

Richard kept in his stance, shielding Lea from any possible attack from Alexus. He kept attentive, sniffing the air and listening for any signs of anyone or any reinforces the Vampire King might have asked for coming to his help.

Alexus looks intently into Maximus’ eyes, trying to compel him. Which just gets him another blow in the face. He couldn’t compel the powerful Elf Lord. Elves are no easy creatures to compel, let alone royal ones.

Maximus gives Alexus another hit and a kick, but everything seems in vain, as the vampire always recovers immediately from any and every blow.

“Dad, please stop!” Lea asks again, her voice laced with desperation. 

“How pathetic she is!” Alexus utters with venom.  

His words make Richard growl deeply, and enrages Maximus even more. Maximus holds Alexus up in the air by his throat once again.

Liv shows up through a blue light (literally out of the blue) and kicks Alexus right in his junk. 

“Sugar, that was really badass! But are you insane? You.are.pregnant.” Laius says pulling Liv behind him protectively. 

Elric rushes to his mate, wrapping Liv in his arms. “How did you even come here?” 

“I’ve portaled myself,” Liv says shrugging. 

“How did you break the protection spell surrounding this Realm?” Avalon asks, also a bit surprised. 

Liv shrugs again, “I may or may not have used some of your most powerful runes.”

Avalon shakes his head and goes towards Liv, pulling her to him, before he looks at her from head to toes, checking if she is alright. 

“Goddess, a preggo chick can’t kick some asses, or junks, without everyone having a freak-out?” Liv asks nonchalantly.  

Avalon stares at her with narrowed eyes and a frown, before he hugs her protectively.

Liv only thought that her mates were overreacting; as they actually had a right to be, their instincts and the mate bond itself drove them to protect their pregnant female. But Liv couldn’t leave her little sister in her present situation without doing anything about it herself, it would go against everything she is, her very core.

Besides that, Liv knew that her baby, or babies, wasn’t at risk; ever since she got to know she was pregnant, she also learned that the baby has raised a shield around themselves. Thus, he or she was untouchable, and not even the Fae people could see or feel inside Liv’s womb and be able to teel anything the baby’s parentage or gender. For all, she knew she could be even expecting twins. 

Alexus uses the diversion to his advantage, kicking Maximus to get rid of his grip. He uses his vampire speed to keep punching his opponent until Maximus falls onto the floor, which makes Lea gasp worried.

Liv tries to escape Avalon’s embrace and do something. She isn’t good at only watching things passively without trying to help, not even when she knows she shouldn’t put herself in the crossfire, shielded baby or not.

“Let me go, I will hit the crap out of this jerk! I will fire him!!” Liv yells.

“Baby, look down at your bump. Have you forgotten again that you are quite pregnant?” Avalon asks, trying to speak as gently as he can and control his edginess, worry, and anger. Liv frowns in response, arching a single brown at her mate. 

“Sugar, you are not going anywhere, and you will be punished for being such a reckless wild Kitten,” Laius says and winks at her, making her roll her eyes. Avalon and Laius hold Liv, gently but firmly.

Alexus starts kicking Maximus while he is on the floor, until Elric joins his friend, making some vines appear and wrap Alexus in their firm grasp, at last, he punches the vampire straight in the face with rage; Elric also urged to avenge Lea. The vines and his attack together with a couple more kicks by Maximus knock the vampire down just after he stands up. 

Alexus is finally down on the floor and immobilized. To be extra sure, Elric bends the Vampire King’s wrists and ankles using his magic. 

Alexus thrashes around, “Let me go… or you will have war!!” He yells enraged; his eyes are glowing in an intense shade of purple.

“You are the minority here, Lice! We will…” Richard snapped. 

“Noo!” Lea screams. “Don’t do anything to him!” They all turn to look at Lea. “He is still my mate.” 

They all keep their gaze on her, a bit astonished, although they knew that they shouldn’t be surprised. Lea was too compassionate and benevolent to let them do anything against her mate, even after everything he put her through. 

“We can’t just let him go, Lea. He is a threat to you.” Maximus says between pants, he was still quite exerted from his fight.  

“Arrest him, but don’t hurt him,” Lea says firmly, as she starts to glow lightly. 

Liv looks at her sister and her mouth drops open. 

Lea doesn’t even notice their commotion. Her eyes are on Alexus, who stares back at her. His purple glowing eyes full of rage, hunger, and… awe. 

“Let’s go out of here Angel.” Valentin stands and reaches an arm for Richard to grab and flashes them so fast that Lea doesn’t even have time to reply.  

Liv turns to face her mates and asks them, “Was she glowing, or I have gone from mild crazy to bat s**t insane?” 

“She somehow unlocked her Elf magic,” Elric replies. 

“I thought that just you ‘oh-mighty and yummy King’ could do it,” Liv utters, still quite in awe. 

He chuckles. “She found a way. I guess she is more powerful than we thought.” 

“Now we have this s**t to take care of,” Maximus utters bitterly before he spits on Alexus. The vampire King stares at him with a nasty look and growls. 

“Let’s take him to our dungeon,” Avalon says. 

“Our Dungeon? Do we have a dungeon? As a dungeon in our house?”  Liv asks confused and raising a brown at Avalon.  

“Of course, we do. We can visit it later, Sugar.” Laius answers slapping her butt. 

Maximus snarls at their exchange. 

Avalon says with a chuckle, “I think you both are traumatizing him.” 

“Just the two of us, because you and Elric never talk about our fun times, baby. If he knew what you...” Liv starts. 

“Livia!!” Maximus cuts her off looking aggravated. All he didn’t need now was to hear about his daughter’s s*x life. All he didn’t need EVER.  

She looks at him and sighs, “Fine, fine... it’s not like you...”

“Love, stop!” Elric utters, giving her a pointed look.  

She sighs again. 

Having the monster that attacked his precious daughter under arrest was not enough for him, Maximus was enraged. He wanted to kill Alexus. He was sure that it would be the only way to avoid the obnoxious vampire to try hurting Lea again. However, he knew he couldn´t convince his daughter of that.
