63. My Everything

2521 Words
Maximus   I scrubbed my face in frustration. She is right, I’m selfish. I’m a failure. A coward.  I hurt my mate every day for decades and after everything I’ve done, I couldn’t even bring myself to tell her the truth, explain everything to her.  If she knows my reasons, she won’t forgive me.  I should have told her the truth when Elric suggested so, almost 25 years ago. But I didn’t, not only because of the Goddess’ Peace or to protect my daughter. But because I was afraid of losing Melinda if I would show myself. I was afraid she wouldn’t accept me because I was not a wizard. We were the first fated mates of different species to ever exist and due to the tension, that existed between the species during war times, until 10 years ago. I could easily foresee that she would reject me, and I wouldn’t be ever able to see her or Liv again.  Then time passed and didn’t make it any easier. My secret became an old secret, as an old box that you don’t open anymore. She wouldn’t forgive me because I have kept the truth from her for too long, even if she accepted the fact that we weren’t from the same species.  I decided to hold on to the little that I had of her. Seeing her, scenting her, holding and loving her once a week. Having her reading and answering my letters. I preferred to hold onto it than risking losing everything. In the beginning, Melinda resisted me and all this atypical mating situation for quite some time; she fought, she disappeared and didn’t come to see me for months in a roll, more than once. I couldn’t risk having it again when she had finally accepted my secrecy.  It was selfish. It was my weakness. It was cruel. I don’t deserve her; I don’t deserve her forgiveness. However, I still want and need it more than anything else.  I need her. I love her.       ~ * ~       3rd person POV   Elric flashes to Laius castle, to the hall. There he sees Medeia pacing around restlessness and mumbling to herself. “Today, he will burn it all,” Medeia mumbles underneath her breath. Noticing Elric’s presence, she turns to look at him and a tiny, almost imperceptible, smile replaces the frown on her face.  “He is in his chambers, locked there for days. Take him from here, a miserable Devil is even more dangerous than a furious one. Follow me, I will show you the way.” Medeia says and starts to walk.  Medeia was very worried, she knew that if this situation persisted for longer, Laius could take Hell to a whole new level of dreadfulness.   Elric only nods and follows her. When they arrive at Laius’ bedroom door, the old potions-maker leaves the Elf King and walks away, without saying any further word.  Elric enters Laius's dark bedroom, he sighs deeply and runs his eyes around, seeing the King of Hell seated on the corner, hugging his knees and burying his face in between them. Everything around Laius, what should probably have been furniture before, was reduced to ashes. Laius has incinerated the whole room.  Now, everything is only darkness and ashes.  Elric could feel the sorrow rolling in waves off of the King of Hell. He walks towards him with long and firm steps, even though he was aware of the danger to approach a very unstable Laius, but he knew he had to do it. He had to do it for his Liv.  When he is close enough to the Devil, Elric clears his throat aiming to attract his attention. But Laius doesn’t move a finger, nor look at the Elf King.  “You must go to her, she needs you,” Elric says calmly, although his heart and mind were a turmoil. “No, she doesn’t!” Laius replies dryly, face still buried on his knees.  “Yes, she does. She is miserable and in pain, in some semi-comatose state. Only you can help her.” Elric utters as serenely as he could.  Laius tilts his head up and his eyes snap open, they are bright red. He stands swiftly after hearing that his Liv is in pain, he takes some steps towards the Elf King and looks intently into Elric’s eyes. “Does she want me there?” he asks, turning around as if he was going back to his corner. “Deep inside she does, otherwise she wouldn’t be in such a pain.” Elric answers, Laius shakes his head. “It doesn’t matter what she wants, she needs you. We are beyond the wanting territory now. We don’t know what will happen to her and to the baby if you don’t come now.” He adds.  After hearing that, Laius walks back towards Elric. “Let’s go.”     ~ * ~ They both flash to the infirmary room, where Avalon is laying on the bed beside Liv. A single look at Liv’s face fills Laius with pain, she looks so fragile and small, even though she has a swollen 8 months and a half baby bump. Laius could hear her soft whimpers of pain. They were muffled and weak as if she didn’t want to let them pass through her throat.  “You look terrible”, Avalon says, as his eyes meet Laius.  The Kind of Hell was pale, his usual tan was gone, his effortless and mischievous aspect was replaced by a depressed and dishevelled appearance.  Laius ignores him. Nothing matters, just his woman in agony in front of him. He strides to the other side of her bed, lays beside his mate, and kisses her forehead, “My precious love.”  She stirs in her sleep and lets out a soft moan, but this time it wasn’t out of pain. Laius inhales her scent, filling his lungs to the brim with her smell of vanilla and freshwater, taking comfort in it.  Laius missed his Sugar like a parched man in the desert craves water. He strokes her hair gently.  Lea and Valentin enter the room. Laius flashes the Fae King a possessive glance, growls, and wraps his arms protectively around his mate. “I mean no harm to her,” Valentin says trying to calm him down.  If Laius would be in his stable and right mind, he would know so. But he was lost, almost pure beast and instinct. He only wanted to protect what matters most to him, his beloved mate. “Valentin has been some kind of doctor to her.” Elric reasons and Lea nods. “She is getting better, isn’t she?” Avalon asks. Valentin goes close to her and touches her forehead, while he is met by a murderous look from Laius. “She is getting better, but the process will be slow. Their mate bond was extensively stretched and battered. It will take time to recover. But If the King of Hell mates her, it will speed up the process considerably.”   Laius's gaze travels back to his sleeping mate, he caresses her face gently with the back of his forefinger, “Sugar, wake up, I need to love you.”  His voice is soft as he talks to her, all the aggressiveness and edginess gone.  Lea looks at them in awe. She squeals quietly, very happy to see them finally reunited. She knows how much these two stubborn dorks love each other.  “Angel, we should leave them alone. He will take her soon.” Valentin mutters to his mate, wrapping his arm around her waist and bringing her closer to him. Lea sighs, “It’s like following a novel.”  Valentin chuckles at his mate.  “If you want some action, I can give you that.” He winks at her, making her face turn slightly red. Even after mating she still blushes at some of her mates’ comments and actions.   Valentin takes her in his embrace and flashes them to their bedroom in Avalon’s castle.    ~ * ~   Laius   “Sugar,” I called my woman again.  She opened her eyes slowly and blinked those thick eyelashes twice before her gaze met mine. “I don’t like your beard.” She muttered in a weak voice, mentioned the messy beard that I have not shaved or groomed for quite a long time. Since I have left to Hell, months ago.  I chuckled. “I love you,” I said as I leaned down, cupped her face in my hands, and gently stroked her cheeks with my thumbs. I brushed a strand of her hair behind her ear. She looked so pale and weak, my poor Sugar. It hurt to see her like this. Because of me.  “I need to make love to you, Sweets,” I uttered. “Please.” She murmured.  “Please what, Sugar?” “I want you.” She said in her soft and sweet voice not much louder than a whisper and full of need. But for sure not as big as my craving for her.  A huge smile spread across my face, the first smile in months. My smiles are kept for her only. I didn’t lose any time and kissed her, a soft kiss at first, taking those tender lips tentatively, before I deepenedthe kiss to let her feel my passion, my urge, my desperation to have her.  She opened her side of our bond more, and I could feel her comforting presence in my mind.  I kissed her again and again before I leaned up and looked at her beautiful face. “I want you Laius.” “You have me Sugar.” “No... I want you totally inside my mind, my heart, my soul, and my body.” Her voice was as soft as a breezy, but a burning one. A scorching breeze of longing and desire. “I love you.” She muttered breathy, as she opened her side of the bond to its limits. Now I was totally inside her mind and soul again.  I kissed her gently, and she opened her mouth for me in the softest of the gasps, letting me caress and taste her tongue.  How I missed her taste and the feeling of her. I missed everything about my Sugar.  “I love you too, Sugar,” I uttered in her mind before I parted our kiss and moved a bit down lifting her dress slowly, my eyes never left hers; I pulled the rim of her panties down gently before I turned it into ashes, and cupped her soft folds with my hand, making her mewl like a kitten, my kitten. She tried to sit up, but my poor love was too weak and exhausted.  “Don’t tire yourself, Love.” I heard Elric’s voice. Were those two still here?  “Fine.” She sighed; her eyes still fixed on mine. I leaned down and kissed her s*x, how I craved to taste her there and drink her o*gasm.  I parted her legs, kneeled on the bed in front of her, and turned my own clothes into ashes. I caressed her swollen bump tenderly before I entered her body slowly, cautiously. I was afraid to hurt her.  “I’m not a porcelain doll!” She complained, she must have caught my thought. I laughed. “You are very pregnant, Liv.” Avalon chimed in. These two idiots couldn’t give my Sugar and me some privacy? I let out a low growl of annoyance. I entered more inches into her warm wetness, she felt like heaven. I closed my eyes and let out a grunt of pleasure as I entered her completely, my c**k disappearing inside her. She moaned out softly.    ~ * ~   Liv   I was cuddling with Laius after we made love.  “I’m so sorry, Sugar.” He said in my mind as I snuggled further in his arms. I missed his warmness, the cosiness that just being in his hot arms could bring me. “I’m so sorry for what I did! I’ll make it right Sugar, we will protect Lelea. I’ve already told Alexus that If he even thinks about hurting her, I’ll create a deeper and worse pit of Hell only for him.” Laius added in a fierce mutter. “Don’t ever do it again. If the baby is yours... or if you want to be someone in his or her life, you have to put him or her, our family, first. That is a must. It’s important, it’s not only about me anymore, so I have to be super careful.”  I couldn’t have a family with him, have him in my baby or babies’ life, if he was unreliable. I couldn’t put my child at this kind of risk. Laius couldn’t lie and act behind my back anymore. He had to put the baby, our family, first for it to work.  “I know, my Liv. I won’t, ever. There isn’t and hasn’t ever been anything more important for me than you, I am sure about it since some days after I met you for the first time. Now it might be that it won’t be anything more important than both of you, Sugar.” He stroked my bump gently. “You are my everything. I won’t ever act in any way that contradicts that anymore. Ever.” His deep voice was laced with emotion and sincerity.  I turned my face slightly to him and kissed him, as my hand reached up to caress his face.  “I’m sorry to make you go away… I should say sorry to myself too. Being without you, it’s… beyond awful.” I muttered after I pulled away slightly to look at his cognac-colored eyes.  “We will never be apart again.” He reassured me as he wiped the tear, I didn’t know had escaped my eye, before he kissed the back of my hand reverently.  I love my devilicious hottie so much.  After a couple of minutes, I fell asleep peacefully in the warmness of his embrace.            Please don't vote for this book for the Dreame Anniversary Event, non-signed books such as this one and Intertwined aren't eligible for prices, vote for The Queen of Alphas and She is not my Luna instead.
