Chapter Nine: Be My, Be My Baby

1521 Words
I let out a laugh, “Really?” “Really,” he held out a hand to me. I glady took it. He held me and Diesel out of the car. He wrapped an arm around my waist as we walked towards the doors. “You of all people don’t deserve to get laughed at, especially with how much you love your work.” I found myself blushing looking down, but noticing how close he was caring himself. This wasn’t a friend guiding you towards a building. This was a boyfriend or partner walking with you, almost protecting you. Without another word outside he held the door opened for me, which I smiled and thanked him for. When we walked in, the open Salon concept was to the right, the shop was from the entrance all the way to the back. It was filled with all different cat and dogs supplies. “Hello, how can I… Oh my god…aren’t you Henry Cavill?!” Even though they deal with celebrities here it seems they still get star struck. “Yes,” He smirked, “This is my girlfriend Harper. You may recognize her?” “Oh no,” I whispered. Henry tightened his arm around my waist. The girl glanced at me and her eyes widened slightly. They should remember me, I was the laughing stalk. “Oh, my yes, I do-“ “So then you can understand why it’s upsetting that when my beautiful sweet girlfriend comes home upset that she was laughed at…all because she didn’t have a star client. She did, god bless her big heart, she didn’t want to ask me. However, I comforted her telling her if she wanted to groom so bad she could do it at home. And become my dogs personal groomer.” The girl was hanging on his every word and began to shrink with embarrassment. I found myself blushing and biting my tongue giving Henry a side glance. “Anyway, just thought you should know. Now we need everything for a cat and all his wildest dreams.” The girl nodded furiously and proceeded to point us in the right direction. I elbowed Henry when the girl walked away. “You didn’t have to do that.” “I did, maybe they will know better for next time.” “I just need to figure out a game plan, otherwise I’m going to be working on sets for the rest of my life here.” “You won’t.” I raised an eyebrow at him, shifting Diesel to my other arm. “What exactly does that mean.” “I meant what I said, to be Kal’s personal groomer. It’s obvious I love him to death but had not a clue about his coat.” I looked around at the cat stuff and saw some of the prices. I felt my jaw fall from looking at the price. This is where stars came to get their animals decked out, so it doesn’t surprise me that a lot of their stuff is designer. The price shouldn’t either, but the fact that we were starting from scratch for Diesel made me sick to my stomach. “I need my tools, but I don’t know where they moved my stuff to or if it was thrown in the garbage.” “So we are seriously starting from scratch…not just for him but you too…your tools…your clothes. Everything.” “Henry honestly, I’ll be able to get my clothes replaced no problem. And if you just get Diesel a litter box and food I could handle the rest from there. I can’t have you spending a fortune on me.” He raised his hand, “I know what I signed up for when I said I was making things right. I just didn’t realize how much I had cost you to lose.” “I understand you feel endebted to me because of everything, but it’s getting a little out of hand now.” “Like I said we are only getting started, now I mean this in the sweetest way possible…shut up about money.” I felt myself blushing and walked with Diesel now in both my arms since carrying him with one became too much. “Alright, that’s better. So you said litter box and food. What else?” “A cat tree?” “Cat tree?” “Yeah, something he can climb and claw at it keeps him away from clawing the furniture.” “Right, then what else?” “He likes sparkly balls.” He let out a hearty laugh, “Sparkly balls huh?” I blushed furiously, “He plays fetch with them.” He looked at me amused, “Does he now.” “I’m serious, he started when he was a kitten. He’s more dog than cat.” He grinned at me, “Than him and Kal should get along quiet nicely.” “He loved antagonizing my sisters dog when we lived together. They played well. Wait-“ I looked at him, “I can’t stay with you.” He looked offended when I said that. I bit my lip, “What I mean is, we would be in your way, especially in a trailer. We couldn’t possibly-“ “I do own a house you know,” he teased once he realized I thought he lived in the trailer, “I promise there is more than plenty of room there for you. The both of you. Besides it’s been a long while since Kal and I lived with more people.” I decided not to question what he meant by that and picked out the water and food bowl for Diesel. Henry noticed what I was doing and told me I lost the power of choosing as I was choosing the cheapest they offered, which wasn’t that cheap. “You get to now sand there and watch helplessly as I choose the best and only the best.” I found myself rolling my eyes. He picked out the biggest cat tree they offered, and engraved food and water bowl with Diesel’s name on it as well. He also had a hard time with eh litter box which he reluctantly yet victoriously picked out, after I helped him. He even got him the sparkly balls, a new bed, a shirt that had superman on it, a new collar and tag as well. I felt like he definitely went over board on him, but he seemed to really enjoy doing so. I had to block out the price, but I knew it was way up there. Something that would take me months if not a whole year to save. That’s not including the fact that I’d have to pay rent or bills. “There, now was that so hard babe,” Henry said as he looked at me, the lady who was ringing us up was the same one who welcomed us. He even leaned in and pressed a kiss to my cheek. “You have to let me spoil you more often.” The lady was glaring at the counter as she bagged the many purchases. I couldn’t help but giggle and look up at Henry who winked at me. Although I know he is acting I couldn’t help but feel flutters in my stomach when he kissed me. The familiar feeling of home returned. I didn’t understand what it meant though. Or why I felt that way with him. When we were walking out I laughed, he looked at me questioningly. “What?” “Just a funny thought?” He smirked, “I wanna hear it.” “If I actually dressed up a little better and put on some make up, you’d look like my sugar daddy.” He smirked and something flashed in his eyes, “You’d be my sugar baby.” I laughed and shook my head, “I guess it was a match made.” He laughed with me as we helped the driver load the car, even though he didn’t like the help, before climbing in. “Where to Sugar baby?” “Well it is rather late…I suppose home?” He grinned at me, “Home…yeah, home please.”               I smiled softly looking down at my lap. I knew I would be lying if I said I hadn’t caught feelings already for Henry, hell he had once been my screen saver on my phone. That was until I was announced a godmother. Then my godchild took replacement of Henry.
