Time seemed to crawl to a halt as I stood rooted to my spot. No one said anything for the first couple of minutes, and if I was being honest, I wasn't sure if I appreciated the silence or not. The sound of my heart thudding rapidly against my chest filled my ears. With how far the vital organs was going every minute, I wouldn't be surprised if it tore out of my skin and landed onto the ground. Not only was I hearing it beat so loudly, something else caught my attention too.
It was a low growl, and only when my gaze met Damon did it finally make sense. For a moment there, I'd totally forgotten that I was still in his arms. In my attempt to escape Callum, I'd run into Damon. If he had come a second later, I wasn't particularly sure what I would have done.
