Two Faces, One Fate

Saturday morning came quietly. For Elena, weekends were usually a chance to rest. But that morning, she had barely finished making breakfast when someone knocked repeatedly on the door. "Elena! Open up!" Elena sighed. She already knew who it was. When she opened the door, Sophia walked in wearing sunglasses, a short jacket, and carrying a small shoulder bag. "You look tired," Sophia said. "I am tired. And why are you dressed like you're going somewhere?" Sophia smiled. "Because I am." "Where?" "A party tonight." Elena shook her head. "Sophia, you just came back." "And?" "And you promised you'd stay out of trouble." Sophia laughed. "I said I'd try." Elena stared at her. "You never try." Sophia dropped onto the sofa. "That's why I have you." Elena couldn't help but smile. That was Sophia. Her twin sister was everything Elena wasn't-loud, adventurous, fearless, and always looking for the next exciting thing. If Elena spent her evenings reading quietly, Sophia spent hers at parties. If Elena worried about consequences, Sophia worried about having fun. And somehow, whenever Sophia got herself into trouble... Elena was the one who had to fix it. That afternoon, Sophia left the house without telling Elena exactly where she was going. She walked through the city, checking her phone as several messages from her friends came in. One message caught her attention. Party tonight. VIP entrance. Bring money. Sophia frowned. She didn't have enough. Then she noticed a black luxury car parked nearby. A man stepped out. Sophia looked up. Her expression changed when she saw him. Lucien. He looked at her for a moment. "Elena?" Sophia turned around. There was no one else behind her. He was talking to her. She smiled. "Yes?" Lucien walked closer. But something about her immediately felt strange. The face was Elena's. The eyes were Elena's. Yet the way she stood, the way she smiled, even the confidence in her voice... It wasn't Elena. "Are you alright?" Lucien asked. Sophia smiled innocently. "Of course." Lucien studied her for another moment. "You seem different today." Sophia laughed. "Maybe you're just seeing a different side of me." Lucien said nothing. His expression remained unreadable. Then his phone rang. "I have to go." Sophia nodded. "See you around." Lucien paused. For some reason, he couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. But he didn't question her. He simply walked away. Sophia watched him leave. Then she looked at the expensive car. A mischievous smile appeared on her face. "So this is the man Elena has been keeping from me." She took out her phone. Maybe knowing someone like Lucien wasn't such a bad thing after all. That evening, Elena was at home when Sophia returned. She immediately noticed the smile on her sister's face. "What did you do?" Sophia looked offended. "Why do you always assume I did something?" "Because whenever you smile like that, you've done something." Sophia laughed. "Nothing serious." Elena narrowed her eyes. "Sophia." "Relax." She walked toward her room. But before she closed the door, she turned around. "Oh, by the way..." "I met someone today." "Who?" Sophia smiled. "Someone who thought I was you." Elena's smile disappeared. "What?" Sophia closed the door. Elena stood there, confused. She had no idea that one innocent misunderstanding was about to bring trouble directly into her life. And Sophia... Had no idea whose attention she had just attracted.
