EPISODE 3: SWEET NOTHINGS

1292 Words
Eunice’s POV I was blown away by her words. It’s been a month now. Ever since that day, I am avoiding that grey eyed guy. I feel so complicated, happy when I see him but sad knowing my sister likes him too. I was torn between the fact that I don’t want to like someone that my closest sister likes and wanting to protect the guy I like from a player like my sister. What should I do? Should I tell my sister? I don’t want to ruin our sisterhood relation. She is the only one whom I can easily talk to. She is my sole best friend, so dear to me and he is the first guy who caught my attention.  My heart is breaking. “Hey cute! Why are you in a daze?” Will asks me. I was startled by his presence I nearly jumped. ‘Why is he here in my favourite place? Is he stalking me?’ “I’ve been looking at you for a while. You hold that book as if you are reading but you are actually not. You never turn the page since you open it.” I stared at him knowing nothing to say. My mind is tangled and my system messed up. I suddenly hit my head with the book I’m holding. “Ouch!” I exclaimed. I did it with much force and it really hurt my head. “Why did you hit your head? Are you crazy?” He asked worriedly. His hand landed on the part of my head where the book hit. “What the?! It’s swollen! Let’s go to the clinic.”   He accompanied me to the clinic. “Thank you.” I whispered, trying to make myself comfortable with his presence. “I will accompany you to your house. I know it’s only three blocks away from here.” He said. “No! You cannot. My father will get angry if I will bring a guy home.” I looked at him with surprise. That attractive grey eyes again… it’s been hunting me since the day I saw that eyes but now, it’s not only your eyes but your smile too. I drop my head as I remember my sister. “Oh, it’s okay. I will just accompany you for two blocks and let you walk the one. I want to make sure you arrive home safe and please don’t say no.” He pleaded. “Okay but please keep your distance away from me.” I said. “No problem.” He walked one meter away from me and asked. “Is this enough?” I nodded and stood up to go home. He walked with me, still keeping his distance until we reached two blocks. “Cute! Take care of yourself. I will watch you from here until you reach home.” I didn’t even bother to look at him or respond. I just walked until I reach home and went straight to my bed. My decision is fixed. I will tell my sister that Will Blues likes me. ‘Does he really like me? I don’t even know because he said nothing but act sweet in front of me. He said that his friend likes me but it is him who’s giving me sweet nothings. I want to keep him. He is nice. Waaaaaah!! I’m Baffled!’ “Sis, why are you in stupor? Do you have problem?” Ensley ask me. “Sis, I want to tell you something. Don’t get angry no matter what, okay?” I asked her. “Promise! Just tell me now, alright? I’m getting nervous.”  She said. “Will Blues likes me. I don’t want to like him back but right now, he is so persistent. I don’t know what to do.” I blurted it out. She is a little shocked and eventually composed herself. “If you like him, I will give way.” She smiled at me and said. “Okay, sis! I promise that no matter what, we will never quarrel just because of a guy. Our relationship is much more important than any other relationship on earth.” I promised with a warm smile on my face. I hugged her. A part of me is honestly not that confident because I know in myself that half of what I said is lie. What if he actually doesn’t like me and he is just sweet to anybody? A knotty feeling overwhelmed me.    -----ooOoo----- Everything went well until my moving up to senior high school. “Eunice, congratulations!” Curvin greet and hands me a small bud of rose. He is looking around like a sneaking thief in the night. “Thank you?” Out of confusion I ask instead of saying. I looked at the rose in my hand. It’s so small that can fit in the fist of a seven year old child. ‘Why is he giving me this small rose? He seemed to be different from the bully I know and is now very wary of the surroundings.’ “Please take good care of my heart. I like you!” He said in a whispering tone and ran away. “He likes me? How? When? Why? He used to bully me every day about my appearance. Oh! That’s the reason why he stopped bullying me these past few months.  ”      -----ooOoo----- I am the valedictorian and it made my parents so proud. Truthfully, their three daughters hold the title of valedictorian from primary school up to secondary. Mama and Papa made arrangements to celebrate everyone’s success. “Who are you? Who are your parents?” Papa asked him like a police interrogating a suspect. “I’m Will Blues, Sir. My parents are V-Victoria and D-Damien Blues of Bagan City. Uhhmm… I actually came here to ask permission if I can court your daughter.” William Blues said straightforwardly to father.   Will insisted to come with me to ask my father’s permission to pursue me. I am sitting beside my mother and sisters nervously while dad sit separately on a single couch as well as Will who is seated in front of father. I can feel my parent’s eyes never left his’. “How can you prove your sincerity to us? Aren’t you playing with our daughter’s feelings? I don’t want to see my daughters get hurt.” Papa said abruptly. “I came here today to show my sincerity. I… Uhhmm… I brought you fruits to sustain your good health.” He handed us the basket of fruits. “Thank you and just call me aunt.” Mama said with a smile. Mother is the total opposite of our father because she always smiles and talks less. She is not that hard to please. That’s where Kathleene got her personality. Will smiled back at her and as he faces our father, he was perturbed. I stared at him with amazement in my eyes. I can’t believe he really mean it when he said that he wants to go to our house and talk to my parents. “Let’s not wait for the food to get cold. Come and eat with us. This is our dinner celebration for the three of them. They always make us proud no matter how poor we are. Gratifyingly, we are not that poor because we are rich in love.” Wow! Unexpectedly mother talks a lot today. I think she really likes Will. “I don’t like him. My instinct says he keeps a lot of secret.” Father said downright. “Don’t mind him. He doesn’t like all those boys that linger around our beautiful daughters.” She said jokingly. Will smiled widely and said thank you to her.  Mama cooked a lot of food today and after that festive dinner, Will went home and we gathered in the living room. “You know what? I like him.” Mother said eying me. I saw my father just smiling at the corner of his mouth. I know he likes Will too but he needs to be tough to test Will’s determination.           -----ooOoo----- I am enrolling myself in grade 11 when Will called me. “Hello? Is this Eunice Frunt? Will Blues get into an accident, you need to hurry here. He might not make it alive.”
