EPISODE 8: SOMETHING’S AMISS

Eunice’s POV

  'Is he real or sculpted from a noble tree? Who is the talented artist that made him? Gosh, those eyes are like an exceptional jewel!’

  “Do you like what you’re seeing?” He snapped me out of my castle in the air.

  “Excuse me, can I have a private time for myself?” I roll my eyes and open my book. ‘So cocky! He thinks all girls fall for him? I already have a crush, okay?!’

  “It’s been years afore you talk to me. Do you really have a tongue or what? For the past four years since we are in the seventh grade and now we are in our tenth grade, I’ve been here with you on this tree but you never even bother to look at me. Do you like me so you purposely ignore me?” He blabbered beside me.

  “Can you please keep quiet?” I ask him angrily. I’m totally pissed now.

  “Alright, but do you really need to ignore me? We’ve been classmates since primary school.” He said. My brows automatically rise. “Have you forgotten the boy who sits behind you?”

  “Uh… Yeah! You are the one putting stones inside my bag, dead leaves in my locker, frog in my jacket and a lizard in my wallet! Hahaha!” My grimace suddenly turned into frantic laugher.

  “Then… why are you laughing?” His eyes confused.

  “I used to call you ‘mucus boy’! Hahahaha! You always have that runny nose which made you messy! Eeewww! Hahahaha!” I executed how he used to wipe his mucus with his hands as I totally laughed my soul out! He looked stupefied! His face turned red in an instant. Fortunately, this part of school we are in is far from crowd. He covered his face in embarrassment. I keep on laughing until my stomach hurts.

  “For all the memories to bring up! It’s not supposed to be like this. Why am I the one being embarrassed?!”

  With teary eyes I looked at him and sneer.

  “Are you finished? Considering that I had fever and cold that day why do you make it a big deal? Everyone fell sick sometimes.” I said.

  “Are you sure that day only? Hahaha! As far as I remember-”

  “Okay, stop it! I went to school that day to see my crush, are you satisfied?” He said bluntly.

  I was stunned. Then glare at me in disdain. “Pervert!” I burst out laughing again.

  “Hey! I never had s*x in my life! Even a girlfriend doesn’t exist on my world! How can you call me names?!” He roared.

  It took a lot of time for me to calm down.

  “You’re mentally retarded. You want me to help you visit mental hospital?” He still keeps eye shots on me.

  “You’re the one that is mentally retarded! Hahaha! By the way, it’s my first time literally to notice you here.”

  “Ouch! I’m always here. It’s just that you never spare me a glance.” He said sadly.

  “Maybe I notice you now because of your shitty voice.” I grinned at him.

  “Well, if you are envious with my voice I can teach you how to play guitar and sing.” He winked at me like flickering pictures. I ignored him and look at the guitar in his hands. He handed it on me and taught me how to hold it properly. From then on, we used to jam under that tree. It was one of the most memorable experiences I shared with him.

  I smiled and stroke the frame in the wall. I look at my watch. It’s ten sharp in the morning. The secretary is walking towards me.

  “Miss, when will CEO Verwunderlich arrive?” I asked her.

  “Mr. CEO called a while ago, telling me to inform you that he has to postpone your meeting. There is an emergency in United States branch. We apologize to you, das Fräulein.” She said with an apologetic voice.

  “When will he arrive?”

  “He will arrive two days from today. The day he comes back, we will immediately contact you.”

  “It’s okay. I understand.” I smiled at her. ‘Something’s amiss.”

  I went back to my hotel and called Sensei.

  “Hello, mommy?” I heard a cute voice on the other line.

  “Hello, baby. How’s the two of you?” I asked him intimately but I heard a faint sob. “Baby Heart, why is Sweet crying?”

  “Mommy, she tripped in the garden when we were playing with daddy.” I suddenly stood up from the couch, my muscles tense.

  “How is she? Let me talk to her.”

  “Mommy… My ankle is hurt.” Her sobs made my heart ache.

  “Don’t worry baby, your daddy is there. Do not cry now and be good, alright? Do not run around carelessly and always listen to your daddy.” I said trying to sooth her feelings.

  “Daddy helped me earlier. He massaged my foot and rubbed some ointment. Now, Heart and I are sitting in the dining table while daddy is cooking.” She said enthusiastically forgetting the pain in her ankle.

  “Then, that’s good baby. Do not let your daddy run around that much. He is already old.” I sigh in relief.

  “No, daddy is handsome! Supper handsome.” I can feel her smile through the phone.

  “Yeah, daddy is the best daddy!” Heart echoed.

  I smiled. Thankfully, I always got Sensei in my back. If not, I don’t know what will I do and how will I take care of my twins.

  “Can you pass the phone to your daddy, please?” I heard Heart’s footsteps.

  “Hello, Sweetie?”

  “Sensei… Thank you for taking care of my children. I don’t know how to repay you.” My eyes instantly moisten.

  “It’s my pleasure to help you, and your kids are both gorgeous and smart so I got no problem with them. Hahaha!” He laught heartily with my kids. “How’s the deal?”

  “There’s no progress. Our meeting was moved for two days so I called to inform you that I will be spending more days here.”

  “You can spend your time leisurely there. You can take a day off. The kids are with me anyways so rest assured.”

  “Old thug, why are you eager to let me have a day off work? Are planning something about my kids?” I narrowed my eyes.

  “Hahaha! If I want to do something, I’ve already done it earlier, right? Why wait for too long?”

  “I think I really can’t trust you. I’ve got premonitions.” I frown.

  “Hahaha! Brat, how dare you question me?”

  “It’s because I can’t trust you! Hahaha Also because I don’t have choice but accept your offer of free nanny to my Sweet Heart! Hahaha! Using brain is always best than using my money.”’ I grinned.

  “Being a nanny of these two is more than worth it so I got no complain.” He said happily.

  “Let me ask you, where are you now? I checked all the CCTVs in your palace and my mansion but you are nowhere to be found.”

  “That’s the perks of being a billionaire, Sweetie. Do you think I only own one villa in the United States? Hahaha!”

  “Urgh! So annoying. Okay. I’ll hug up now. Concentrate on cooking and kiss Sweet Heart for me, please.”

  When I hung up, I wasn’t aware that in the mansion, two kids are looking to their daddy that sweats profusely. He was nearly caught! Gladly he knows how to turn the situation upside down.
