CHAPTER TWO

1191 Words
DADDY’S PRINCESS SOPHIA’S POV I walked down to the dining room after I was done with my preparations. I had to settle for a very elegant straight-cut black skirt that had a slit up to my thighs and a chiffon blue shirt. I did something fancy with my hair, a French style or something I saw in a women’s weekend magazine. Lastly, I paired it with flat-bottomed cover shoes. It wasn’t what I would have worn on a regular day, but I am a lady on a mission, and it won’t be a bad idea if I avoid scrutiny on my first day of school. I got to the dining with my Zara handbag on my left hand and my tablet on my right hand. Dad was already seated, sipping his very black and bitter coffee. “Good morning, Dad,” I said while dropping my handbag on the chair beside the one I pulled out to sit on. “Good morning, Princess, how was your night?” I shook at the question, spilling my coffee on the table. “Wow, be careful, darling,” he said, reaching for a towel to clean up the mess I made. He obviously asked me an innocent question, but the memory of my dream made me feel guilty and scared. There was no way he knew about my dreams. I coughed anxiously and tried to adjust my skirt. “I slept quite well, Dad,” I said, forcing a very innocent and calm smile on my face. He can’t ever find out the kind of dream I have been having. I can't even bring myself to call my dream visitor's name; it felt so forbidden, and I feared all kinds of trouble would arise if I even let my secret and sinful dreams out. “That’s good, my darling, you must make sure you get enough sleep, it is very important,” he says, looking at me seriously, the way he always says it to me. “Dad, you always say this. I do mostly nothing but sleep,” He drops his coffee cup and looks over the rim of his eyeglasses at me. “Darling, a time will come when you will wish you slept as much as you could when you had the time.” “Geez, Dad, do you have the same wish then?” “Of course I do, can't you see how fast I am getting old? I no longer have the privilege to sleep as I would love to.” We both burst out in deep laughter. It's always nice to talk about small things like this with my dad. “Today's your first day as a college student, you must be feeling nervous,” he asks, sipping his coffee while still peering at me from the rim of his glasses. “Yes, Daddy, it is,” I said with a sigh. “I am not nervous though,” I said, sipping my coffee just after dumping enough sugar to kill my teeth in it. “I have told Valentino what he needs to do. You can take whichever car you want to take, my darling,” he smiles at me, making me feel warm and mushy inside. “Dad, I have something I need from you.” “What is it?” He asks, turning his full attention to me. “I need you to increase my allowance, make it more than it used to be,” I said and sipped my coffee again to prevent myself from saying unnecessary things. “That’s all?” he asks, taking his phone out to swipe on something on the screen. “Yeah, that's all,” I answered nervously. I didn't want him to ask me what I wanted to use the money for; he already gives me so much, so it would be a proper question if he asked, but I am not ready to answer his question. “Alright, darling, I will tell my secretary to handle that,” he says, a bit distractedly. “Really?” I asked, not quite believing he'd just do that for me without asking questions, as is his normal way of doing things. “I'm sure you have your reasons, so I'll tell my secretary to handle it,” he added while swiping on his phone and trying to stand up as well. “Oh, thank you so much, Dad.” I am so excited, I got what I wanted, and I didn't have to explain myself either way. How was I supposed to tell my dad that I needed the money so I could look cool and maybe get myself some friends? I'd already made my plans. College is definitely not going to be like high school. I will be throwing a lot of parties and hopefully make some really cool and nice friends. My heart felt like bursting out of its seams at the mere thought of my plan already looking fruitful. Dad suddenly puts his phone inside his pockets and turns to face me with a solemn look on his face. “You are my darling princess, I will do anything to make you happy so you don't have to worry about anything and enjoy your first day at school,” he kisses my forehead as is his tradition of saying goodbye whenever he leaves for work. “You are the best dad,” I whisper to him while giving him a really wide smile. “I know, right?” Dad says, and we both burst into loud laughter. “Don't wait for me, I'll be back very late today,” he says, and walks out of the dining leaving his coffee unfinished. I guess whatever he saw on his phone was really serious. He comes back again just immediately after leaving the dining and points a finger at me, “Don't stay out late, Sophia,” “I won't, Dad, I promise,” He looks at me for a while longer before leaving me alone in the dining. I do a little jiggy dance while still sipping my coffee. Today is gonna be great, I can feel it. Mistress Wood comes out with a tray in her hand. “I can see you are in a good mood, Miss.” “Oh, Mistress Wood, I got what I wanted; all the speech I prepared wasn't even necessary.” “I told you it would be okay, you were just fretting for no reason,” she packs up the coffee cups in the tray as she talks. “You know how dad can be sometimes,” I swallow my coffee in one gulp and place the cup on her tray. She picks up the sugar pack and carefully places it back where it was supposed to be. “You should get going, Miss Sophia. Valentino is by the car waiting for you.” Mistress Wood walks out of the dining room with the tray in her hand. I sigh deeply and grab my bag. Today is already so beautiful, so I'll make the most of it and enjoy it.
