A Change of heart

1305 Words
Monday. It's the first day of the week at work, but she doesn't seem to have forgotten the intimacy she had with Seth in her dream. His gaze has been drawn to his friend across the table, who is looking at the computer and working on something. She used to be able to easily find topics to discuss with him, but now she's having difficulty, no matter how hard she tries. She would remember his body in her dreams every time she looked at him. Particularly the part where she recognizes his masculinity. She keeps staring at him, studying his soft movements. How had she missed the fact that her best friend is so attractive when he's serious and not talking? Seth looks at her and winks, sending chills down her spine, just as she was thinking about it. With that gesture, she pretends to arrange some papers on the desk, slightly panicked. What happened to her exactly? Every little thing that happens between her and Seth now is so intolerable that she couldn't think of a way to avoid the sensitiveness in their situation that only she felt flustered while Seth had no idea. She takes a look around. Everyone else is busy, but she is preoccupied with Seth. Her mind is thinking too much. She even recalled how they came to work for this company. Innovation Marketing is one of Cebu's most successful and largest businesses. It focuses on marketing strategies and the financing of small businesses through investments. And because they both graduated in business management and, of course, the salary offers, they undoubtedly seized the opportunity to become a part of the company. So now here they are, still working. "Hey, what time did you get home after Edward's party?" Leslie approaches her, giving her a cup of coffee that she remembered she asked her to buy if she went to the pantry. "Thank you, Les, we went home after that small fight between Edward and his girlfriend," Abby hissed Leslie's mouth forms an 'O' shape. "Seth likes Edward, right?" "Yeah, unfortunately!" Abby tries to sound normal as if she's not bitter about it now. "I think, or at least that's what I've heard, that Edward feels the same way about Seth" Leslie exclaims, her gaze drawn to Seth. "Says who?" "I don't know, but Michel told me that one of Edward's friends told her," Abby would have answered when Seth approached them at her table. Both of them start to wonder if Seth heard what Leslie just said. "It's a little early for a rumor, ladies," Seth exclaims. "What did you discuss, Hmmm?" "It has nothing to do with you, we were discussing our weekend plans," Abby explains. "That's really cool. So, what's the game plan?" "Hmmm, just planning a movie marathon," Leslie replies. "Yeah, yeah, that's it," Abby says, trying to sound convincing. "What are we going to watch this time?" Seth answers while looking up as if he's thinking. "Have you seen the Bridgerton?" Leslie exclaims with glee. "Oh my goodness!!! That movie was a smash hit on Netflix!" Seth responds. His eyes twinkle with delight. "You know, I don't like that kind of movie!" Abby says it out loud. She's heard about it, but she's not interested in watching the whole thing. "Hey, why is it that everyone loves it except you? That is absolutely unbelievable! You should watch it before saying you don't like it." Leslie persuades and looks at Seth, who is now laughing at the idea. "And if you still don't like it, we'll buy you your favorite coffee from Starbucks. Deal?" Seth suggests. "Really? Is this a challenge?" Abby is perplexed. She's wondering if she'll be able to watch the film at all. "Game?" Leslie says. "I think you'll like it, Abz!" Seth touches her chin as he says it. And here it comes again, the sudden familiar heat from his hands. "Hmm, okay convince me then," sounds as if she's not affected by his touch. "Just this one, You will love the Duke, That's all." Seth blunders as his cheeks flush with so much anticipation. "Without a doubt, Abby. He is extremely hot, as in literally hot!!!!" Leslie adds that she was suppressing her desire to yell. Is Seth as appealing as he is? Her insane mind screams inaudibly. "Are you sure? Can you tell me his name?" Abby responds while looking at Seth. "Are you referring to the actor?" Seth answers as he attempts to position himself next to Abby in order to look something up on the computer in front of her. "Of course," her voice changes as she senses Seth's closeness beside her. Their bodies make slight contact. She is conscious of the sudden heat that rises within her senses. Her body is softly trembling. Seth has even no idea what she is feeling at the moment. "All right, Rege Jean Page," He says the name aloud as he types it on the screen. Images of the actor flash across the screen. Abby examines the images, attempting to persuade herself of the actor's deception. "Well?" Leslie cut in while she waited for Abby's idea. "Hmmm. At the very least, he's attractive." "Exactly just like that?" Seth looks at Abby and stares at her, unable to believe what he has heard from her. Seth, don't look at me like that. You're even more attractive than the person I saw on the screen. She didn't say it aloud, of course. "Yeah,"  "Wow! In any case, what kind of guy are you looking for?" Leslie inquires. After hearing that question, Abby's expression changes in a strange way. She looks at her best friend as if he was the answer to the question. "No, she won't tell Les," Seth interjected, moving away from Abby. "She even doesn't want to tell me, to think I'm her only best friend," Seth says dramatically. Abby simply rolled her eyes at him. "Maybe she will to me. Right, Abby?" "There's no way I'm telling you anyway." "Do you identify yourself as a lesbian?" Leslie stated unequivocally. Seth examines Abby's reactions with great interest. He never attempted to question Abby about it. After hearing it, Abby's eyes widened with rage. "No way, I am not. Okay?" Seth never takes his looks away from Abby, who has no idea what Seth's mind is up to at the moment. "What?" Abby exclaims, staring at Seth. She feels that he is not convinced by her statement. "I didn't say anything." Leslie chuckles."You two are so adorable," Really. This gay is not adorable. Leslie, he's hot. Just so you know.  Abby thought. Am I  falling in love with Seth now? Yes, you read that right. I crave for him now. Similar to how I can crave a favorite food.  She starts to find everything about him irresistible, that even includes his little quirks, his odd sense of style, and his particular way of doing things, which all become endearing now to her. As of now, Abby is excited to do things she's already done a million times before because it's with Seth all this time. Especially those times she thought of when they see a romantic movie preview or when they were planning to make a quick trip to the nearest fast food place. She's looking forward to doing those things again with him. She'd even be willing to sit through four hours of a sports game if it means spending time with him. Is that's because love sparks a new change in her? And When you’re in love, the basis of your perception changes. I compare it to a feeling of being really awake and excited.  Abby has found someone that makes everything feel new and intriguing – even if it’s just sitting on the couch watching TV with him.
