Chapter Fourteen: Slowly Becoming
Violet’s POV
A few hours later, I woke up feeling weirdly happy.
I mean… it was normal, right?
I was in a relationship.
I had accepted my sexuality.
I was with a woman, and she was pretty cool.
Gosh, I really asked her out… and now I was dating a girl I had just met.
Well, I always knew I was crazy. This just confirmed it, I thought, laughing softly to myself.
I checked the time.
05:20 AM.
Not surprising for an insomniac.
I stared at my phone for a moment.
Well, I can’t text her now. She’s probably still sleeping. I’ll text her later.
It wasn’t like I didn’t want to. I just didn’t want to seem clingy.
It’s better to keep myself busy for now.
I put on my AirPods, opened my playlist, and played I'll Be Your Man by G Flip. It felt like the perfect way to start the morning.
I did my chores, completed my morning workout, and took a bath. Once I was done, I served myself breakfast before finally picking up my phone.
The moment my screen lit up, I noticed she had texted me.
I smiled immediately.
Honestly, she had been on my mind the entire morning, but I had forced myself not to check my phone while I was busy.
Seems like someone’s awake, I thought to myself as I opened the messages.
Ezra: Hey Violet, I didn’t know you sleep this much. Gosh, I won’t keep you up that late anymore.
08:05 AM
Ezra: Heyy, are you still sleeping?
08:50 AM
Ezra: I’m beginning to believe you disappeared on me.
09:30 AM
I laughed softly as I read through her texts.
Gosh, she was something else.
I checked the time.
09:40 AM.
Only ten minutes had passed since her last message.
Violet: Good morning, beautiful. How did you sleep?
Violet: Sorry, I was busy. I actually woke up around 5 AM, but I thought you were still sleeping, so I decided to text you after I was done with everything I had to do.
Violet: And don’t worry, I don’t disappear on people.
It didn’t take long before my phone showed that she was typing.
I smiled.
Ezra: Oh, so someone finally decided to show up. I was about to give up on you.
Ezra: I slept well. What about you?
Ezra: Oh okay, I see. Still, a little “good morning” text wouldn’t have hurt. I texted you the moment I woke up.
Ezra: Let’s hope you keep your word.
Violet: Wow. Giving up on me that fast?
Violet: I slept well too, thanks.
Violet: Oh, so you’re the one who woke up late? Then who exactly sleeps too much?
Violet: And I always keep my word.
A soft smile stayed on my lips as I stared at our messages.
Somehow, in less than a day, talking to her had already started feeling natural.
Like something I didn’t want to lose.
