Chapter Twelve: 2 A.M. Decisions
Ezra: Wait…
Ezra: Did you just ask me out?
My heart stopped for a second.
Did I?
I hadn’t even realized it myself.
Violet: What if I did?
Violet: Would you say yes to someone you just met… a few hours ago?
The words felt heavy as soon as I sent them.
This was crazy.
It hadn’t even been a full day.
Just a few hours.
A few hours that somehow felt like… more.
There was a pause.
A long one.
The kind that makes your chest tighten.
Ezra: Why not?
Ezra: If I like her… then yeah.
My breath hitched.
Violet: So… do you like her?
Silence again.
Then—
Ezra: I do.
Everything inside me shifted at once.
Warmth.
Shock.
Excitement.
All at the same time.
It was overwhelming.
And yet… I didn’t want it to stop.
Violet: Then… just so you know—
Violet: You just agreed to be my girlfriend.
The moment I sent it, reality hit me.
What did I just do?
At 2 a.m.
With a girl I met a few hours ago.
This didn’t make sense.
None of it did.
And yet…
It felt right.
Dangerously right.
Her reply came in.
Ezra: Yeah… I did.
Ezra: Are you regretting it already?
A soft laugh escaped me.
I leaned back, staring at the ceiling, my heart still racing.
No.
I wasn’t regretting it.
If anything…
I was scared of how much I didn’t regret it.
