Friends at last

"I could never in this life place it I'm my head that we were neighbors, imagine just opposite my house .. that's funny" he said as he settled down on the couch. And I froze What was he talking about... Neighbors, how, when and in what way. I closed the door and looked at him. "Neighbors! What do you mean?" I asked him with a nervous smile. He smiled back at me, though his smile was rather charming. I cleared my throat, "Will you answer me?" I asked still kinda nervous. I don't know why I was nervous, maybe because I could not place the fact that I was going to be living in the same neighborhood with him. I knew we lived in the same area, yeah because of our first encounter but not too close, not this close. Opposite was too close for my liking. He threw me a charming smirk, "The house opposite your house," he pointed to the house through the window, and I swallowed a huge lamp in my throat. "Is my home, or my parents home. Whatever but I live there!" he smiled and shrugged as if what he said did not make the whole of my body tense. I blinked twice, "Are you joking with me?" I said as I cleared my throat. "No why should I?" he said I could not place what he was talking about. But somehow I started to get it. I remember when my parents and I went visit our neighbors when we first came here. They introduced themselves as the O'Roberts family. And now thinking back to their looking, they had striking features just like Victor. Why did I not recognize his name at first. Why did I not place it that they were family. I looked everywhere but where he sat, "I'll get u something to drink" I said as I moved to the kitchen. "Water will be fine!" He shouted from the sitting room. I came back with a glass of water in my hands, I handed it to him and crossed my arms to my chest. "So, what are you doing here?" I asked still standing and looking at him. He looked at me with a raised eyebrow, "I told you already I think!" He said setting the glass of water on the table. "Well, I think I did not quite place it, I don't remember really" I said with a half shrug. He chuckled a little bit then sighed, he took the glass of water and poured it down his throat in one gulp. Wow he was thirsty. "When I called you last night, it seemed like you were crying" he started as though he was narrating a story. Yes I was crying so, I looked at him waiting for him to complete. "So I was worried, and when Nickie told me you were sick. I do not know because all I thought about was coming to see you!" He scratched at the back of his head. Wait a minute did I hear him well, was he worried about me. "Worried! About me?" I asked before I could stop myself. He stood up so we could look each other in the eyes. "Yes I was worried," he said in an almost angry voice. "For Christ's sake can't you see me as a friend for once. I'm sorry about that night. But is this not too much for a one night's misunderstanding" he sounded hurt. I did not know why he was hurt, but still I was acting a little bit too much. I knew he was right. "I'm sorry" I said looking at the ground. "What?!" He asked in an amused voice. God I will never hear the end of it. "I said I'm sorry okay" I said again walking past him. He held my hand, I swear to God I almost fell down. The moment his hand touched mine, I lost it a little bit but regained my composure. "Can we atleast be friends?" He asked and I turned to him. He smiled at me. I did not see any reason why we could not be friends. I sighed and murmured a 'yes' "What?!" He said with the widest grin. I chuckled, "Yes we can be friends" I rolled my eyes. "WOW! Friends at last" he said smiling wider. †††† I could not believe it was already Friday and tomorrow was the match. It has been a week since Victor and I became friends. He was a good friend I guess, that is what I would say. Nickie and I had started moving around with Victor, Pete and Griffen. We had gotten pretty close. Pete is super friendly I could say, Griffen is also friendly but he is not one of many words. Victor was more close with Griffen. I learnt during this past week that Victor, Pete and Griffen had been friends since childhood. The three went to the same nursery school, middle school and are now in the same highschool. To my surprise I learnt that Victor has never dated anyone, though he had a crush on his teacher while in middle school. I can not stop laughing every time I remember that fact. Griffen dated once and it ended badly. Pete, well I think he has also never dated because I have not heard any history of a girl. All in all, this friendship thing was going well. Yes well, except for the fact that we have received a lot of hate from the famous girls in school, especially Cleo. Well, while other girls started befriending us, in hopes of linking them to the cool boys. It was kinda annoying but I shrugged it off everytime. Now we were seated at the basketball court, the boys had told us to wait for them. I stood at the edge of the court, watching as the boys' basketball team practiced with an intensity that was both captivating and intimidating. Victor was at the forefront, his movements fluid and effortless as he sank shot after shot. As I watched, I couldn't help but feel a flutter in my chest. Victor was more than just a talented athlete – he was confident, charismatic, and impossibly handsome. I felt shy and quickly looking away as he caught my eye. But I couldn't tear my gaze away for long. Victor's passion for the game was infectious, and I found myself drawn in. As practice came to a close, Victor jogged over to the sidelines, his eyes locking onto mine for a brief moment. I felt my heart skip a beat, wondering if he had noticed me watching him. God I should stop staring. ††††
