ELIAN. We were back to square one. Back to where we started. Once again, I was left with nothing but the gnawing fear, threatening to rip my soul at the possibility of my mate not waking up. In one day, ever since I've found her, she’s fainted twice. Milena had said she would be fine just yesterday, but I guess the confusion from what I had told her must have triggered another reaction. I sighed as I massaged my temple, staring at the vast forest before me. The already glowing sun was almost at its peak, glaring down furiously on the trees and me. I was outside because Milena had demanded that. At first, I had argued, refusing to heed to her demand. "Forgive me, Alpha Elian, but I think I may have missed some details about her the first time I checked her." "You what?" I thundered, rage bubbling in me. "Your only job was to check her and make sure she's alright. And now you're telling me this?" "I...I... I'm sorry. Forgive me, Alpha. I suspect she hit her head somewhere. But I only suspected that now after inspecting her further. Since you said nothing about her hitting her head anywhere, or rather what had happened besides her lips splitting, and the few scratches on her body, I didn't think to..." "You didn't think?" I cut her off harshly. "Can you just listen to yourself, Milena? You've always been a good physician, what’s gotten into you?" "Apologies, Alpha. I'll make sure I do everything within my power now to find the cause and provide the proper potions for her healing." "See that you do!" I growled before I left the room, banging the door loudly behind me. And now, I was alone outside, doing nothing but staring at the tall trees and listening to the birds chirping from time to time. While my mate was in there fighting for her life. Yet, I couldn't do anything. I had no healing abilities to offer her. Nothing. Just the plain me with nothing but a tainted past I wish to forget, and a gloom future with no assurance whatsoever. Although I can't shift, it had always been a mystery how I could mind-link with the pack members. I had never been grateful for something like that, like I was now because mind linking brought Milena here. I wonder how long Anisa and I are going to be here. But I do not intend to leave until she is okay. Which brought me back to the thoughts of all the things she had said. Had the story about my rejection traveled far even to a human realm? Because as far as I am concerned, as far as every werewolf is concerned, humans are extinct. It was mysterious enough that Anisa was here. It was even more of a mystery now, with all she had said. But what was it she had said about being in a book? She had asked, with her eyes so wide I could still picture them if I was trying to tell her she was in a book. Which didn't make a lick of sense. But I am sure it has to do with her sickness from the fear of what the rogue had done to her. I didn't know how she had gotten here, and I'm sure she had no idea as well. But deep inside, I know I was being given a second chance at happiness. I’m sure it’s the reason Anisa is here. However, I can't shake the feeling I had felt while she explained her situation. Her emotions were raw. She was scared, and I do not know why I can already sense them, since she's neither a werewolf like I am, nor had we mated. "Bani!" A loud shrill from behind me brought me back to my senses, and I growled. Just what the heck was she doing here?
