JUST A SMALL ISSUE

1064 Words
As Jace Hilton stepped into the dimly lit bedroom, shedding his tailored suit jacket to reveal a crisp white shirt that accentuated his broad shoulders, Aviva's gaze was drawn to the commanding figure before her. His piercing blue eyes, fringed with thick lashes, seemed to bore into her very soul, while his chiseled features -strong jawline, straight nose, and sharp cheekbones- were illuminated by the soft glow of the bedside lamp. Aviva shut her eyes tight, pretending to be asleep but the subtle scent of his designer cologne wafted through the air, mingling with the faint hint of cigar smoke, left Aviva feeling both intimidated and intrigued by the enigmatic Jace Hilton. Jace, who was unaware that Aviva wasn't sleeping, shredded his shirt off completely causing Aviva to clench the bedsheets harder at his smouldering sights. Finally he left the room and walked into the shower room, it was then Aviva breathed out tremendously. “Phew! That was close” She smiled in amusement and retired to sleep. Few minutes later, Jace was done bathing and dressing up so he settled down beside Aviva. His blue orbs studied every part of the sleeping beauty carefully. In his eyes she was some helpless little girl who had nowhere else to go, it made him wonder what gave her the courage to sign the contract. He slowly tucked some strands of hair beside her ear and was about to kiss her cheeks when his phone vibrated on the bedside table. He picked up the phone and tapped on the SOS that came in and just by staring at it, his mood changed drastically and he left for his study room. The sound of singing birds and chirpings filled Aviva's ears as she yawned lightly, adjusting to the morning sun. Immediately the magnetic cologne of Jace hit her nose as she quickly recalled that he returned last night. She tilted her head sideways but he wasn't there, turns out that he left earlier than she thought. “Well… not so bad” She muttered to herself as her features light up incredibly. At least it was a good thing she got to see him last night, Aviva told herself. She had no idea that the room was for both of them. She smiled mischievously as a thought came into her mind. She walked over to his closet and opened it, revealing a set of well arranged suits. “Wow” Aviva mouthed in surprise as her eyes scanned the colors of designer suits. “He's so organized,” She smiled, running fingers through them. Soon she realized that she had to go shopping and in no waste of time she was done bathing. She put on a sky blue jacket and a black jean pants with silver slippers. She styled her hair in a high bun leaving two strands of hair beside her face. When she was done dressing, she went down for breakfast. Henry approached her and reminded her about the shopping, so they left the mansion, along with Hazel, the assistant cook of the mansion and also Martin the driver. *** Meanwhile at Jace’s office, he was pretty occupied with some business stuff on the system. Precisely, he seemed to be shutting out an issue, a pressing on at that. “I can't believe that those bastards were actual fraudsters, not so funny how they disappeared into thin air and then appeared back again, holding a statement against me” His voice was clipped with resentment and Connell seemed so nonchalant about the whole thing. He knew that Jace had more than enough resources compared to what they took from him. “When you make your woman sad, you're likely to encounter bad luck often, love your woman Jace!” Connell lectured instead, referring to Aviva and Alissa who was sitting beside Jace scoffed and stood up. “That wretched brat doesn't deserve his love, he will be fine, it's just a small issue” She defended Jace, standing behind him and giving him a soft shoulder massage. “Are you jealous of her? She now bears the title of Jace Hilton's wife. What about you Lissa…what will be your fate when they get married?” Connell spoke without mincing his words. “Never! It won't work just like the others, right baby?” She whispered the last two words into Jace's ear but he didn't respond which made Connell snort out of disgust. “Nova please go get us some coffee” Connell said to another lady who had been quiet the whole time, arranging piles of files into a drawer. “Noted! What flavor would you like?” She asked politely “The usual, just two cups” Connell replied, excluding Alissa from his orders but she cared less. “Baby why are you ignoring me? Come on, you can talk to me” She cooed into his ear but Jace could barely hear her, his mind was occupied with something else. Almost immediately, a message popped into his phone ‘I'll be returning to the country in three days time, I can't wait to see you my love’. After seeing the message from the screen of his phone, Alissa paused on her actions. “You're still hanging out with Bridgette?” She furrowed her brows tightly “Is that a problem to you” His answer was cold and nonchalant, then his tone… Alissa couldn't dare question him further. Jace shut his eyes tight and ran fingers through his shiny black hair. Turns out that the small issue was escalating to higher grounds. He had tried to sort it out with his lawyer but the matter calls for more. The fraudsters had filed a case against him, tagging it as scam and dupe. “It's worse than I thought man” His voice was gravely low causing Alissa who was behind him to shudder subconsciously. “Oh I know what you need right now” She summoned up courage to speak and then began kissing his neck from behind, caressing his head gently until the door flung open and she abruptly halted. The office attendant walked in and greeted them in a calm tone. “Sir you have a visitor” She informed and left. The next minute Nova walked in but that wasn't the visitor as there was someone behind her.
