Melissa woke up the next morning and followed her same routine. She took a nice warm shower before going into the living room to wait for Chris. A knock on her door made her eyes shoot towards the door. She waited for Chris to come in but the door stayed shut. She was stuck, wondering who else would knock on her door. She waited for the person on the other side to speak. “Melissa, It’s Julie, are you in there?” Her voice was full of concern. Melissa sighed in relief before she opened the door for Julie. “Good morning, Melissa, I’m just checking to see if everything is okay.” Melissa nodded her head. “Good,” Julie said. “Chris will be here any minute, he just went to the kitchen to grab a bite for you and himself.” She nodded again. “I’ll come by in a few days to check on you again if you need anything please call Chris or me, we are here to help you.” She closed the door behind her. Melissa just waited, waited for Chris to come by with her notebook and food. ~*~ “Here, brought you some bacon and scrambled eggs. Hope it’s okay.” Chris said after placing it on the coffee table. Melissa smiles slightly while nodding. While Melissa ate her breakfast, Chris said something that Melissa had not expected. “I was thinking that after you finish eating, we go on a day trip?” Melissa choked on her food. Chris sat beside her and patted her back, making sure she was okay. “Are you okay?” She nodded her head, embarrassed. “No need to be embarrassed, Melissa. It’s okay,” he paused, “so, are you up for a little trip?” He had asked again. Melissa smiled and nodded. “Great, we’ll leave in an hour.” ~*~ “I talked to my mum, she said I can take you out as long as I bring you back before eight at night. the time right now is 11:18 so we have a ton of time.” Chris helped Melissa into the passenger seat of the huge Jeep. “Will you be okay in the front or do you want to be in the back?” Melissa just smiled in response. “Alright.” He closed her door and got into the driver’s seat. “Are you ready?” Melissa nodded again. She wasn’t ready to talk. She didn’t want to say something wrong, she didn’t want to hurt anybody’s feelings so she never talked. She looked at Chris with a perplexed expression. “You’re wondering where we’re going, aren’t you?” She nodded. “Well, yesterday night I read your diary and you said that you’ve always wanted to visit the small towns in Oxford. lucky for you, I’ve been here a while, so I know all the great places to visit.” Melissa just stared at Chris, not believing what he had said. “Don’t worry, we’ll have a lot of fun,” The said after he was out of the parking lot and on the highway.
