Chapter 6

999 Words
Leo has been unconscious for over a month now, all this while I have been the one taking care of him. Melanie is nowhere to be seen, oh wait she's in the pack house performing "luna duties" the pack is a mess right now with her under control, but nothing concerns me as I will be taking my leave once Leo awakes. It's a Friday, I haven't been home the whole week. Leo is sleeping on the bed peacefully, even in coma he still looks like an angel. I don't want to leave his side for even a second but I have to go home and get fresh clothes. Casting Leo one last look, I reluctantly exit the room promising myself to be back soon. Loud music plays from a distance, as I draw closer I realise it's coming from the pack house. Confusion fills me as I step out of my car, it's not just music cheers can also be heard. Is someone throwing a party? I wonder trailing in, well it can only be one person but then I wonder what is there to be celebrated. My suspicions are confirmed upon stepping into the room, the sitting room has been re-decorated into a strip club, Melanie can been seen swinging endlessly on a poll in a shiny dress, she's having the time of her life like her mate isn't lying in the hospital unconscious, what's worse is that her friends cheer her on and I hate to say it but she's got talent. You can't tell her apart from a stripper, maybe she was one before. "Here comes the star of tonight." Melanie says and all heads turn in my direction, she descends the pole and strolls to where I'm standing, linking her arms in mine she pulls me with her. "What do you think you're doing?" I question but Melanie's grip is firm. The audience consists of mainly men and the few women who can be seen all appear half naked. "How can you do this when Leo lies unconscious in the hospital and you call yourself his mate." Anger surges through me. Melanie stops, "I'm not the one who told him to get himself in an accident, why do I have to care?" It baffled me how a woman could be this cruel, "Isn't he your mate?" "Aren't you supposed to move out? Leo asked for a divorce before the accident and you already signed it, so why are you still here?" I could not believe my ears, as if leaving me to take care of Leo all by myself wasn't enough she wanted to kick me out. "Not until Leo awakes, I won't be going anywhere." "Well that's a shame," she pretended to count her fingers, "I already threw you a farewell party and my money cannot go to waste, actually it's the pack's funds which makes it impossible for you to stay since every penny must be accounted for." How ridiculous! I have no time to waste her with her, Leo is waiting. I spun to leave but Melanie pulled me back, "what do you say? Do I have your word that today will be your last day in this pack, bitch." Matching her gaze with fire, "I told you the first time, not until Leo awakes I won't be going anywhere. Don't make me repeat myself again Melanie, let go." She appeared shocked for a moment, I have never spoken to her in this manner before but I don't know what came over me today, the longer I stayed the more I wanted to hit her. Melanie raised her hand to hit me but I saw through her and stopped it half way. "Let go." She demanded but my grip only tightened, this would surely leave a bruise behind. She fought to escape my hold but was unsuccessful, I tossed her on the floor like a dirt rag. The music came to a stop and everyone watched in anticipation. Melanie cowered as I stepped forward, "I am the luna of this pack, do you think you can escape the consequences that comes with hitting me in public?" She sounded like a crying child, I fought the urge to laugh. "Luna you say? Sure well if you say that's what you are then it is." I had no intentions to drag the title with her, actually I was sick of it now but I knew for sure that no matter how crazy in love Leo was with Melanie, he'd never forgive her for messing up the pack. "I would love to stay here and watch you rant but I have other matters to attend to, you can continue your little party playing dress up as luna but remember that every action provokes a reaction. I implore you to be careful Melanie but if you're not, isn't that good news for me?" Actually I wish she'd be more reckless, Leo would still not look my way even when he regained consciousness, but I don't pray for him to end up with a wicked woman like Melanie, in the end she will only leave him wrecked. I started to walk away but my phone vibrated in my pocket causing me to halt, "hello." I pressed the phone to my ears, the ID was an unknown caller. "Good day, am I speaking to Mrs Olive Morris?" A masculine tone questioned. "Yes this is she." "I would like to inform you that your husband Leo just opened his eyes and is requesting for his wife." A bitter taste lurked at the tip of my tongue, the doctor must not be aware that Leo had two wives, I didn't need to hear directly from him to know that Melanie is the one he wanted. "I'm sorry doctor, but you have the wrong person." "That can't be right, Mr Leo gave me this number himself and told me to call his wife Olive. Is there a mix up somewhere?"
