JOANNE ~ Two days later, I was sitting at breakfast, tapping my spoon against my coffee cup, more than a little irritated at Mr. Thorne’s disappearing act. He had left me with nothing but silence for two days, and now here he was, casually eating his eggs like he hadn’t vanished with a cryptic comment and no explanation. “So…” I started, eyeing him as he sipped his coffee, as calm as ever. “You’re back.” He looked up at me, a faint flicker of amusement in his otherwise unreadable expression. “I am.” I wanted to say more, maybe something sarcastic about him finally deciding to remember I existed, but I held back.
