Chapter Sixteen Lucy looked at the letter. It seemed so brief and cold. She knew it was not the type of letter Mr. Koessick had meant for her to write, but Lucy could not bring herself to tell Beau everything. Besides, she was still angry for the way he had sent her away in the first place. She must prove to him and to herself she could survive on her own.
