I followed Lucian into the Master's office. He was quiet. We got inside and he sat in the office chair before bending down to get something from the desk drawer. He took out the piece of paper.
What is that?
He looked at me and stroked me first. "What happened out there earlier, Ms. Reyes?"
I had a strict grip on my clothes. "Sorry, sir. It's personal matter."
That should be really serious so that the incident happened earlier. Otherwise, There will be no exception." His tone was cold. He's serious.
I'm just bowed my head and not looking. "It's about my dad. The hospital called and had to have immediate surgery on the pope because he was in a serious condition."
Suddenly his face became numb because of what I said. "Is that so bad?"
I nodded. "So I felt numb because I hadn't even paid my bills last month at the hospital, suddenly with urgent requests for surgery." I paused before speaking again. "So...i hope you give me another chance, sir. I need this job." I don't care even if I look like a hapless person in my state. "Please."
He lowered the paper on the table before getting up and walked to the window with a serious sense. "You probably know that you could delete what happened earlier, Ms. Reyes, right?" He said while the arm was crossed. "Those porcelains that you just broke worth more than your annual salary." Meet me together. "So, tell me how are you going to pay me back?"
My heart pounded and my tongue pulled out as if I had lost my voice so that his question could speak.
"S-sir, just subtract from my salary."
"Do you think if I'm gonna do that, how long can you pay the price then? That's when you told me that you need this job to pay your pope's bills in the hospital."
"But, sir—"
He cut off what I was about to say. "Celestine, right?" she was asked if she had correctly pronounced my name.
I nodded. "Celestine Alarice Reyes, sir."
He smiled and shook his head slightly. I saw that. But he quickly reclaimed his smile.
Wait, he smiled?
"Well, then I guess I'll just call you by your second name." He stepped in and turned my back. "It's all right, isn't it?'
"O-yes, sir."
I feel like I'm blushing now. I can smell his perfume. He was so close to me.
He laughed softly before walking back to the table. "Okay. Allardyce, here's for you." He took the paper that he had earlier held in his hand. He wrote something here before it reached me. "For your pope."
I was surprised to look at the paper. This is cheque. I couldn't believe how much money was being placed. S-sir, it's too big. I can't afford it. I haven't paid for the porcelain, sir." I tried to force the cheque back on him but he kept insisting that it be rejected.
Get that and go back to the hospital. He really needs you right now. And please say thank you too," he said.
My forehead was covered with astonishment. "Thank you?"
"Just come back tonight because I'll get help cleaning my private office." Keep your back. He left the Master's office and left me alone.
"'What's eaten before? "Wait, he hasn't told me how I will pay my bills." I was breathing. "It doesn't matter."
I quickly changed my maid attire into a pants and a plain t-shirt. I hurried to the bank to replace the cheque before I went to the hospital.
I was about to run off into the hallway in a hurry. I saw Dr. CaStillo just outside the papal room and ran after him to talk to him. ""Doc! Wait, doc!"
He turned right away. "Ms. Reyes, it's good that you're here."
"Doc, how much does my dad need for his surgery anyway. I want to know."
"Big—"
"My doc's question is much."
Dr. Castillo took a breath before telling me of the pope's bill along with surgery. In any case, there will be a little left in my window to Lucian. Then I'll have to worry about how I'll pay him.
After talking with Dr. Castillo, I walked into the room where my father was lying. I sat next to the bed, where I used to be. I robbed his hand and looked at his pale face.
It was a long way from her face before she was hospitalized in high spirits.
"Dad, why do you have surgery? Even...i won't be able to stay with you later, but you'll still be so brave because i'm expecting good news when i come back, papa." I couldn't stop the tears from running down. Suddenly I burst into tears like a child. "I love you very much, papa. So please get better and wake up. I miss your cooked adobo."
