Negotiations and Lies

Once we all sat down and got through the pleasantries my father began.
“As per agreed upon, Jake Mason of the Opal Moon Pack is to wed my
daughter Raini Ski of the Obsidian Pack, so that an alliance may be formed.” I
couldn’t believe that Jake is my mate and I must set here and pretend that it is
simply an arranged marriage. Even though I am upset at the fact that he does
not want me in that way I can’t help but to understand where he is coming
from. Mabey it will not be so bad. We can have a peaceful marriage and
remain friends. As, the Elder began to speak up I began to pay more attention
so that I at least knew what to expect. “Agreed the three elders spoke up.” The
ones in attendance was ours, Elder Prescott, Jakes pack elder, Elder Max, and
the representor of the main elders whose name I really didn’t pay attention to.
“Both packs agree to uphold the following conditions” the unknown elder
began to list of conditions: One; The betrothed will move to Opal Moon Pack
immediately after this treaty is signed. Two; Alphas Mason and Ski agree that
both will sign in blood. And lastly: upon the next full moon the betrothed and
young Alpha Mason are to be married.” So far, his words were not causing any
worry we knew to expect all of this. I focused my attention back to the elder.
“Upon recital of the vows, the marriage is to be consummated before more
than twenty-four hours has passed. As to this will solidify the young woman’s
place as Luna.” The look of sheer terror on my face must have only been
noted by Jake. “Excuse me.? Jake spoke up. “We are to consummate the
marriage? As in I must bed her? That seems a little unnecessary does it not?”
Everyone turned their attention to him. “Son just as a mate bond takes affect
after the mating, so too does a chosen. Thus, forth is why it is called MATE
bonding, and as choosing to take Ms. Ski as your chosen, is an acceptance of
a bond.” All I could think about in that moment was oh s**t. In consummating
our marriage, it will tie us as mates but not because we are chosen, but
because we are fated. “And if we refuse?” came Jake’s voice. “It will be done
or you lose your title pup!” Came Elder Max’s answer. I looked at Jake shaking
my head. Pleading with him not to let it slip we are mates. Thankfully he
understood and acknowledged with a slight nod. We would talk about this
later. For the remainder of the meeting, Jakes dad, my dad and the elders finished up on the briefing of the treaty. Once it was all said and done, blood
was drawn and I watched as everyone in the room signed. When it was my
turn, I was about to pierce my finger when Elder Prescott stopped me, “Not
you little Raini, as being having no place in making arrangements, you are not
required to sign.” Judging by the look on his face I knew to keep my mouth
shut and obey. “It is settled then!” stated the unknown Elder. “Alpha Ski,
prepare to make the announcement.” My father rose from his chair, nodded
his head, and went to old the door so everyone was able to file out. Upon
leaving the room I signaled for Jake to stay back a minute to which he gladly
obliged. “Well, that went well!!” I said half ass laughing at the situation. “Pray
tell, how exactly are we going to get married and not kick start the mate bond?
Any ideas? Because if we do the deed, we will not only be accepting it, we will
be halfway to a fully completed bond. Ergo up s**t creek without a paddle!!”
While saying this I tried to seem as if I was not taking offense to him not
wanting to be fated to me and not secretly imagining how it would be to jump
in the sack with him. We sat in a silence as I could see him mulling over my
words. “Raini, control yourself,” I could see his eyes darken ever so slightly. “I
can smell you, you now, and although I have thoughts like yours, I will not be
acting on them. In the case of the ‘deed’ as you put it, it is not as if they will be
in the room present with us, all I will have to do is scent you strong enough to
mix our smells. It can be done.” I just stood there looking at him. Did he just
admit to thinking about me sexually? I just nodded my head and turned to
walk out of the room. Without glancing back, I could tell he was on my trail.
Just as we walked out my father was preparing the crowd of spectators of the
good news. “Obsidian Pack!!, It is with great pleasure I announce that the
treaty is now filed. With the union of Jake and Raini we will be in peace with
Opal Moon. Tonight, we celebrate, for tomorrow my daughter takes her leave.
Everyone disbursed to take part in the festivities. I went to my mother and
father to let them know I was going to go pack a few things. As I approached
closer, then I heard them questioning on the conversation I had with them
before. “We need to Know,” Momma was saying. “Love she will tell us. There
has always been that trust.” Daddy answer her. “ I Glanced back at Jake who
even at our wedding announcement had no shame. He was chatting up one of
our Omegas. “ Momma, Daddy, I am going to go pack a few things.” I said
gaining their attention. They looked at me and we had a quiet conversation
without words. They then understood Jake was indeed me fated and it was as
I said. Although he did not outright reject me. He was not going to accept the bond.
