The thick fog surrounding the battlefield slowly split apart, as if an invisible hand had torn it in two.
From its heart emerged Malkar... the Alpha of the Alternos wolves.
He was a massive gray wolf, every bit as large as I was. Dark black streaks ran through his fur, while his glowing green eyes pierced through the mist. Swirling gray clouds circled his body under his complete control.
The moment he took a single step forward… Every Alternos wolf bowed before him.
He stood there, his gaze fixed solely on me, and I returned the stare.
Then his eyes shifted elsewhere. He bared his fangs, and irritation suddenly flashed across his face.
I followed his gaze...It landed on my mate, Naira.
Obsidian growled furiously, and just as he was about to charge...
