COMMENTS MAKE ME SMILE🙃❄️
*AGES SIX—SEVEN.*
DANIEL'S POV:
"Why are you crying?"
She jolted out of her thoughts and turned to see who it was. I could see the relief that caught her six year old mind when she saw it was me. No one could see her cry except me. She made this declaration after I told her that her tears were the most precious thing on earth and no peasant was allowed to see it.
I didn't say it to make her stop crying. I'm not nice. But doesn't mean I won't tell her the truth when she needs to hear it. She wasn't anyone's equal. And her tears were truly precious. I wasn't going to make her waste it on the likes of idiots such as Drake and André.
"Because Mommy said that when I grow up, I'm going to marry a boy."
"She always tells you that Chloé." I rolled my eyes. I wasn't a fan of her parents. Although I had just known her for just the final year of Kindergarten, I knew a lot of things about her. I didn't like the way her mom treated Chloé. As for her father, I didn't like the fact he was almost closer to Chloé more than I was to her. I wanted to be her one and only. But she was so obsessed with her 'Daddy', it made me very jealous. But I wasn't going to let her know that. What if she makes fun of me? We were in the waiting area, waiting for us to be picked up but it was already an hour after school closed and almost everyone had already gone home. "What did you say?"
"I told her that I'll m—marry Daddy since he's a boy. But she said I can't marry Daddy." I sobbed and hugged him.
"Why do you want to marry your father?" I tried to keep my cool. She really thinks I'll let her marry her father and let him take her away from me? Fat chance old man.
"Because he's Daddy." I looked up to my minion's face.
"You can't marry your Dad, your mom has married him."
"Then let her go away!"
"Marry me." I slipped out.
She stared at me like as if I had gone mad. "You?" She shifted away from my chest.
"Yes."
"Then who will be my minion?!"
"I'll still be your minion and your Husband." I shifted closer to her. "Let's get married NOW."
"But how will we do that? Don't we need a Priest? Mommy said I'll get married in a Catholic Church."
"My Mom got married to my Dad in the subway station." A kid bursted out of nowhere and made Chloé scream.
"Don't scare her." I held my future wife's hand.
"Your Mom got married in a subway station?" Chloé's mouth dropped.
"I can get you guys married right now in fact! I'm gonna be a pastor when I grow up! Hi! My name's Caden."
Chloé looked at me with fear. She knew what I was about to make her and I do. For the first time in a while, I smiled in public with genuine happiness. I'm going to marry Chloé.
"Aren't you supposed to say some lines first?" I said.
The three of us found a quiet place in the garden, but all of a sudden, other kids came to where we were. Chloé wanted to chase them but then I told her in every wedding, there had to be guests. I held Chloe's little hands as she faced me. Although her school uniform was a bit dirty due to how much I made her play today, she still looked like the most beautiful girl in the world. Even more beautiful than my mother.
"Hey! I'm still practicing! Give me a break." He cleared his throat as he carried his little Bible from his bag.
"Do you always carry that?" Chloe asked.
"ABSOLUTE-LIII!" He grinned as he posed with the Bible in his hands. "Dearly beloved, I have no idea what to say, I am only five little piggies old! But do you take Chloé to be rightfully wedded wife?" Caden gazed at me.
"I do." I said and I couldn't miss the blush on her face. She was excited and happy.
"And do you take Daniel to be your rightfully wedded husband?" He turned to Chloé.
"I DO! But as long as he remains my minion!" She giggled.
"So! Bla bla bla....I don't know what to say anymore. Oh wait! With the power vested in me by God and all things Chocolate, I pronounce you Husband and Wife! You may now kiss the Bride."
"Kiss her!" A kid shouted.
And no one needed to tell me twice. I didn't escape the shy and scared look on Chloé face before I stepped closer and touched her lips with mine. Chloé lips were naturally red and soft. Her cheeks reddened like fresh tomatoes about to burst when I pulled away.
My bad mind wanted to kiss her again.
After all the guests left because their parents were there to pick them, I noticed how Chloé face became sad as we went back to the waiting area. Her mom was there.
"You don't want to go home?" I said to her.
"I don't want to leave you." Her hazel eyes glistened with tears. I hated how André had the same eyes with her, even though they were of different shades.
"Come home with me, I'll tell your mom we're married. Married people stay together." I said to her. I didn't want us to be like my parents that didn't live together anymore.
Chloé refused saying her mom would never agree. I stopped her from shedding her tears by reminding her that no one should see them. She also did not want to leave me because I was going to be alone. My driver wasn't yet here to pick me up. She was scared if I was going to be okay. I had to pretend like I was going to be. Truth of the matter was that I didn't like being alone, but I didn't want to say it to worry Chloé. She gets too worked up sometimes.
After she left, and I realized I was the only kid left in the block. I sat down for what felt like days as I thought about how long I've known Chloé. Since the day I took back her pencil, she had never left my side. Even though I received a lot of punches because of her, I never once regretted being her minion if it meant fighting her battles for her.
She is the only person other than my mom that I love. I made Chloé promise me not to play with that i***t André throughout kindergarten. But now kindergarten ended today and we would all graduate to the first grade. I wouldn't see Chloé for months! I just realized that. I even forgot to ask her if she was coming back to this school or changing schools like some of are classmates said they would. I hope she wasn't changing, but if she wants to, I'll change too and follow her to wherever she wanted to be. And I'll make her promise me not to play with anyone other than me....not just throughout first grade, but FOREVER.
I wanted her to be with me forever.
I never regretted taking that kick from André. Did I deserve it? Maybe. It was a retaliation I received after André told me his favorite person was his mother. And I always know how to hit where it hurts the most. I flatly threatened André that if he doesn't give me back Chloé pencil, I was going to marry his mom and take her far away from him. And just like I wanted, he got angry and I took the opportunity to snatch back my Queen's pencil.
That was right before he kicked me.
The kick didn't matter. Seeing her cry somehow affected me deeply. It messed with my emotions to the point I had to do something about it. I thought it was just a once in a lifetime thing. But when she came to the sick bay with her blueberry cheesecake and gave me that annoying nickname —Mister Blue, I guess she bewitched me with her raven hair and red lips. Her pretty face and slim body, her voice, the care in her hazel eyes, her indirect demand for me to agree to be her minion, EVERYTHING.
"Daniel!"
My eyes shot up and saw my Father. I was surprised he came with Maurice to pick me. Something in me told me that there was a big issue at hand.
Once we reached the entrance of the three story mansion that resembled a modern and sophisticated glass tower, all of us got down and was about to enter in when my mother dashed out with tears in her eyes.
"Mom?" I looked at her as she dragged out what seemed to be all her luggage.
"Sweetheart.." Relief caught her when she saw me. She dropped out her bags and was about to go to me when my Father came in and slapped her across the face.
"MOM!" I ran to my mom as she cried on the floor. I tried helping her up but I was so little, and frail compared to her weight.
"Get him inside now." Father ordered Maurice and without hesitation, his loyal staff took me up from the floor.
I struggled my best to get out of Maurice's grip as he lifted me in his arms and proceeded to take me inside.
"Let go of me! Mom! Dad don't you dare touch her! I will kill you if you hurt my mom again!" I screamed and struggled. But funny enough, no tears fell out from my eyes.
"Watch your mouth you little brat. You forget you are talking to your father." He glared at me before turning his attention back on my mother. "As for you. Get the hell out of my property before I kill you with my bare hands." He shoved his hands into the pants pockets of his business attire.
"Let me go with the kids, p—please..."
I saw how he slapped her again before Maurice opened the door and went inside with me despite my resistance.
Where is mom going to?
Why isn't Father letting me go with her?
"Where is David and Damon?" I looked around the house, it was too quiet. "Where are my brothers?" I tried to sound calm as he dropped me on one of the sofa.
Maurice looked at me with no emotions on his face as he made no attempt to answer me.
I looked through the transparent glass door at how Dad and his men dragged mom into the car despite how she screamed my name and my brothers' names.
I was about running to the door when Maurice stopped me.
"Don't make your father even angrier by going outside." His Irish accent spat.
"I don't care." I struggled.
"He will hit you!"
"I.DON'T.CARE! I want my mom!" I kicked Maurice the same way André kicked my legs that fateful day.
"Sit down there!" My father came in as the car mom was inside drove and passed the brown gates of our house.
"Where are you taking my mom to?!"
"To the airport." He ascended the stairs without even looking at me.
"Why?! She doesn't want to go anywhere." I angrily followed him till we reached the door of his study room.
"Oh she does. Your little b***h of a mother has left. And now you and your brothers are stuck with me." He dragged my arm and into the study room we went.
"She only left because you're an excuse of a husband! And a father!"
SLAP!
I held my reddened left cheek with my hand. I should cry, my father just slapped me.
Cry Daniel! Cry!
Maybe if I cried, he'd realize how evil he is.
But even at seven I knew the world didn't work that way. Well, my father didn't.
He bent down to my height. "It seems my son's mouth is a little too sharp for a seven year old. But I wouldn't blame you or that b***h that birthed you. It's my genes. My intelligence has made my son so smart and brave. But make no mistake Danny boy." He knew I hated that nickname my grandmother gave me. "I will cut off that tongue if you disrespect me again." He straightened up and arranged his tie. "Things will be different in this household. Since your mother wants nothing of this marriage, I will do as she pleases and give her nothing. I know she doesn't care about money, her weaknesses are the three of you. Especially you her favorite." He gazed at me eights pretentious smile. "The only way to drag your mother back here is to keep her away from you. I give her two days, she will lose her mind without you in her arms. You have nothing to worry Danny boy, Mommy will come back." He smiled. "And when she does, I will welcome her not with opened arms, but with enough beating and bruises to correct her senses. And she will never defy me again." He went and sat on his chair and acted like he didn't just lay his hands on his son.
I wouldn't blame him for acting like it was normal. It was normal, because he did this almost everyday. Especially to me, the kid that never shut his mouth whenever he abused mom. David would silently cry, Damon was away in boarding school so he didn't even know what was happening while he was away. And me? I'd be the one to run up to Father and try my best with my little hands and attempt to drag Mom away from his violent clutches.
