“Sir, please, I’m so sorry! This job is everything to me, this is the only source of income my family has depended on since I lost my wife, please Mr. Kingston! I washed the cars you normally use. You haven’t used this one in a while, and you hardly ever take it to work. I beg of you, sir.” The old man knelt in front of Damien, his head pressed to the ground. “Get up,” Damien finally said, looking down at the old man with a dead, emotionless glint in his eyes. His voice was firm but not as harsh as before. The old man hesitated, then slowly rose to his feet, still wiping his eyes. He stood there, hunched and worried, waiting for Damien’s next words. “If in the next ten minutes, you are still on my property, you’ll be joining your wife, wherever she is,” Damien said through gritted teeth. Meanwhile, Lila was observing the tense exchange between Damien and the old man. She was surprised to find that it was already past 8 in the morning. She had gone to bed with a pounding headache the night before, knocking on Damien’s door until midnight, but he didn’t respond or come out. She had spent hours at his door, begging for one last chance, promising not to violate the contract again, but he remained silent. She even dialed his number several times, only for him to eventually switch off his phone. She had fallen asleep in front of his door, but a maid woke her up and took her to the bathroom to freshen up because she was a sweaty mess. She planned to be in front of his door again by 6 a.m., but she had overslept. Looking down from her window, she watched as Damien’s anger reached a boiling point. Though she couldn’t hear his words, the way the old man broke down in tears made it clear that he was saying pleasing words. “Oh geez, how do I talk to him in this mood, he just had to be in a bad mood this morning! But he is never in a happy mood” she sighs. “What had the old man done, why was he crying? Being an employee of his alone should be a good reason to cry every morning though” Quickly, she reached for the door but stopped immediately she held the door knob. “Come on girl! Dad can’t sleep in the cell one more day, and Mom?! she shouldn’t recover just to be thrown in prison. No” She shook her head. She twisted the door knob and went straight downstairs. “Please can I have a word with you?” she asked, trying to keep her voice calm and confident. He didn’t flinch at her question, he seemed to be attending to something important on his phone as he waited for Hakim to get the other car. “Damien?!” she called out again. He gave her a cold glance briefly before shifting his gaze back to his phone, but just then; he immediately snapped his gaze back to her like he saw a ghost. His face went from cold to surprised. Mechanically he dragged her by the arm upstairs. She almost had to jog to keep up with his fast pace. She stumbled twice on the stairs as he dragged her up, too shocked to pull away. His grip on her arms was so tight that she could feel the blood rushing away from her hands and his fingers digging into her skin. Once they reached the hallway upstairs, Damien released his grip and pushed her forward. She stumbled a few steps forward, catching herself against the wall. Looking back at him, her eyes wide with confusion and hurt. His face became colder than before. He gave her a sharp look from head to toe, his eyes lingering on her chest. Damien's eyes narrowed, fixating on the outline of her pointed n*****s visible through the transparency of her clothing, but there was not a hint of lust in his eyes, just irritation. “What the f**k do you think you are doing downstairs almost naked? Have you gone crazy or do you have no shame?” Damien blurted out angrily. Lila immediately used her arms to form a shield, protecting her completely visible round breast from his sight. She had rushed out to talk to him, forgetting to wear her robe. Her nighty was a pink lacy gown which was a complete see-through and it stopped just beneath her buttocks. Her face flushed a deep red, her emotions were that of embarrassment and hurt. She quickly dropped her gaze, trying to find the right words. “I... I didn’t realize,” she stammered, her voice barely above a whisper. “I just wanted to talk to you, and I didn’t realize I hadn’t worn my rope...” She trailed off, biting her lip in frustration. Damien’s glare didn’t soften. “You didn’t realize? Do you have any idea what you look like right now?” Her shame deepened, but she lifted her head, meeting his cold stare. “I said I didn’t realize it already! You don’t have to speak to me like this,” she yelled, her voice trembling with a mix of hurt and embarrassment. Damien raised an eyebrow, obviously surprised by her sudden boldness. Second time in two days. He finally lost it. For a moment, neither of them spoke, the tension between them was thick and charged. He finally spoke, His voice cutting through the air like a knife. “Listen up,” he said through clenched teeth stepping closer, his eyes burning with anger. “The next time you speak to me with that tone, I’ll make sure it’ll be your last. Who the f**k do you think you are, talking to me like that?” I don’t care who you think you are,” he went on, his voice dropping to a cold, threatening whisper. “But in my house, you will respect me. And as long as you’re my wife, you won’t embarrass me by dressing like some cheap tramp.” Lila blinked. Damien’s anger was so intense, it left her speechless. His glare was icy, but the anger in his eyes was so fierce, she had never seen anyone this furious before. “Seems you haven’t learned your lesson, I can make your one-year stay here peaceful but you keep choosing the hard way. I hope you have enough to get your Father a good lawyer” “My fa..father doesn't deserve this... I’m sorry, I will….” “You disgust me,” he interrupted her, his eyes scanning her from head to toe again. Lila’s breath caught in her throat, her heart pounding as she fought to control her legs from losing strength Damien stepped back, his jaw tight as he tried to control his anger. His eyes stayed locked on hers, daring her to respond, or even say a word. But all Lila could do was stand there, her mind spinning from the storm of emotions between them, rivers of tears pouring down her eyes. He turned and went downstairs. Lila stood frozen, her body trembling as Damien’s angry words echoed in her mind. Her chest tightened, and a wave of emotions crashed over her—fear, anger, shame, and something deeper that made her feel exposed. Slowly she slid on the floor, sitting like a lost puppy she let out all the tears left in her.
