When Tarkyn, Running Feet and Stormaway returned to the firesite, they were mobbed by Danton and the woodfolk. Feeling an aura of disapproval, Tarkyn glanced around the trees and spotted several eagles, hawks and falcons glowering down at him. He wasn’t sure whether their disapproval stemmed from him using one of their number and allowing her to be injured, or from his intention of leaving the safety of the firesite.
Before he could check with them, Danton demanded, “So come and tell us all about it. Obviously there must have been at least a few soldiers for your eagle to be fired at. How many were there? Where are they now?”
