13 The arrival of the royal party had swollen the numbers around campfires. The taverns, market stalls and eating houses were packed. The six trappers were back in the corner of the campfire they preferred, keeping their heads down and out of trouble while elsewhere Stormaway was dropping a judicious word here, closing an astute deal there, and sometimes making contact with the people in his wide-reaching insidious spy network.
