The walk to Liam’s house felt like a funeral march.
My legs were weak.
My heart was even weaker.
I held onto my bag like it was the only thing tying me to this world. Like if I let go, I would fall into nothing.
When I reached the gate, I fumbled for my phone. I wanted to call him again. I needed him to say something anything.
Maybe he didn’t know Mom was dead.
Maybe if he heard my voice again, his heart would melt.
Maybe I still mattered to him.
I dug my hand into my bag, searching fast. Lip balm. Keys. Handkerchief. My charger.
But no phone.
I checked again.
Then again.
I emptied everything onto the concrete like a madwoman. My things scattered all over the floor.
Gone.
My phone was gone.
A heavy gasp escaped my lips as I stared at the mess in front of me. I must have dropped it at the company… maybe in the elevator.
But right now, I didn’t care.
What was the point?
I knew the passcode to the gate. I had been there more times than I could count.
Liam always used to say, “This is your home too, baby. It’s our anniversary date.”
My fingers shook as I typed in the digits, hoping it was still the passcode.
The gate clicked open.
The silence inside his compound was too loud. It pressed on my chest.
Every corner of the house held memories that haunted me, the sound of us laughing in the kitchen while making our meals.
Or the dining room that held the memory of our most unforgettable s*x.
My heels tapped softly against the tiled floor as I walked to the door. The house still smelled like him like his cologne.
A scent that once brought me comfort. Now, it wrapped around my throat. Suffocating me.
I keyed in the hallway door code. It still worked.
The door creaked open.
I stepped inside and shut it behind me. I listened.
Maybe he was asleep.
Maybe he was sick.
Maybe he couldn’t face me after everything.
Maybe…
Then I heard it.
A sound.
A woman’s moan.
I froze.
No.
No, I was just tired. Exhausted.
I hadn’t slept. I had cried too much. I had lost too much. My brain was making things up.
But then I heard it again.
“Yes… baby… yes…”
My heart stopped.
I couldn’t move. I couldn’t breathe.
Then came the other sounds.
Skin slapping skin. The rhythm. The pace.
Loud, shameless moans.
Not quiet. Not rushed.
They weren’t trying to hide. They didn’t care who heard.
I took a step forward, slow and heavy.
Every part of me screamed, Turn back!
But my feet didn’t listen.
Maybe my heart already knew it was over and just wanted to see what broke it.
I walked down the hallway. The sounds got clearer. Stronger.
His voice.
“God, you feel so good,” Liam said.
Another moan. Another thrust.
The bed creaked. Her cries echoed through the walls.
Her nails scratched down the wood like she needed to mark him. His grunts were low and deep, feral and raw, like he was lost in her body.
“You’re so tight, baby,” he growled, slamming into her again.
Her scream turned into a long, shuddering moan.
“You want more?” he whispered.
“Yes, Liam! Don’t stop. Give me all of you!”
Their bodies collided with desperate force. Wet slaps and gasps filled the air. The mattress squealed under them.
“You’re mine right now,” he panted, “all mine.”
She cried out, begging, “Harder! Please… ruin me…”
And he did.
His rhythm turned brutal, urgent, like he wanted to erase every memory of me with every thrust he gave her.
She screamed his name over and over, and he answered with a growl of satisfaction.
It was animalistic. Intimate. Deep.
And it tore me apart.
I stopped in front of the bedroom door. My hand shook as I reached for the knob.
Maybe it wasn’t him. Maybe someone else was using the house. Maybe…
Then I heard him again.
“You drive me crazy, baby. No one makes me this wild.”
It was him.
Liam.
My Liam.
The man who once kissed every inch of me and called me gold.
The man who told me no other woman would ever have him the way I did.
That I owned him.
That I was his forever.
I opened the door just a crack.
And I wished I didn’t.
His back was to me, but I knew it. I knew those muscles, the way they flexed with every savage thrust.
He was buried Inside her, gripping her waist, pulling her into him over and over like she was oxygen and he was drowning.
He gripped her thighs, spreading her wider.
Her legs were wrapped tight around him, her nails clawing down his back.
Their bodies were soaked in sweat. He kissed her shoulder. She arched into him.
His mouth found her breasts, sucking hard her n*****s, then biting.
She moaned louder.
“Yes! Liam, deeper! Don’t stop!”
And he didn’t stop.
“You’re perfect, baby,” he growled, kissing her neck, biting her ear.
He knew how to ruin a woman with pleasure.
He once did it to me.
Only me.
That’s what he said.
All of it were lies.
Tears fell down my cheeks. I stepped back from the door, my whole body shaking.
My stomach turned. I gagged. I couldn’t hold myself up anymore.
I slid to the floor. Cold tiles met my skin, but I couldn’t feel anything.
The sounds didn’t stop.
They played like a cruel song in my ears.
“You’re perfect.”
“You feel so good.”
“Don’t stop.”
I wanted it to stop.
I wanted everything to stop.
Then
The woman’s face turned toward the door.
And I stopped breathing.
My soul slipped out of me.
My sister.
My blood.
The girl I grew up with. The girl I loved and protected from Dad’s cruelty.
The one I trusted with everything.
The one Mom said had a good heart under her walls.
She was under him.
Naked.
Sweaty.
Moaning.
Taking what was mine just yesterday.
That was the moment I knew I didn’t belong here.
Not in this house.
Not in this family.
Not even in this world.
Not one soul wanted me.
And maybe…
Maybe it was time I gave them what they wanted.
Maybe it was time I disappeared for good.
