The sun was setting on Green Forest. Claire was lying in bed with Mitch as he slept beside her. She had felt guilty about calling out sick from work until she looked at the man beside her. Claire smiled as she thought about the many things they discussed, including ways to handle their problem involving Callie and Mark.
“I thought you said you had to work today,” Mitch mumbled as he rolled to face her.
“I did, but I called the lodge and said I was sick. They offered to bring me food or medicine if I needed it. They even offered to let me stay in one of the rooms if I was contagious, so my parents wouldn’t get sick,” Claire shrugged. “It doesn’t matter. I told them I have a migraine. That way, I’m covered if I’m hungover tomorrow and don’t feel like going to work.”
“Smart. I like that,”
