RYN POV The body was still. Limp and small and wrong in the middle of the stone floor. Voices buzzed in the air around me—murmurs, accusations, panic rising like a wave—but all I could do was stare. A pool of blood seeped into the cracks beneath the lifeless figure. I stepped forward before I realized I was moving. Teryn was already crouched beside the body, her face grim. Thalen stood not far off, arms crossed, jaw locked, eyes dark with something unreadable. I glanced at the victim and felt my stomach lurch. It was one of the younger rebels.
