MorningAfter

I woke up to the smell of my favorite pancakes the next morning. I got up and waked to the kitchen. I thought Kyle would demand an explanation but his pride was too big for that. If he wasn't going to deal with me. He was going after Vince. "You made pancaked?" I said as I poured myself coffee. "Hey Am, your favorite." He handed me a plate. "I'm leaving a bit early for work today but I'll be home for supper." He walked towards me, kissed me on the forehead and left. Kyle's POV I loved Amara, she meant the world to me. A part of me blamed myself for what I'd walked into last night. I was furious, I wanted to get back at her but I was going to deal with that boy first. I was hurting but I wasn't weak. I wasn't going to let her see that side of me. I promised myself, starting today I was going to f**k her every chance I got, make sure the only d**k she'll ever remember was mine. "Did you track him down?" I spoke through the phone. "Yes, I'm sending you his details and his address right now." Dean, my best friend. "Don't do anything crazy bro!" "He f****d my wife Dean, I'm not promising anything." I said to him as I hung up the call. My fist tightened around the steering wheel as I pulled up outside the modern two-story house. I had spent the entire night replaying the image in my head. My wife, my bed. The bastard had escaped before I could get my hands on him but not today. Today, I knew exactly where to find him. I stepped out of my black Range Rover and slammed the door shut. The early morning air was cool, but it did nothing to calm the fury boiling inside me. I marched up the driveway and pounded on the front door. It was about three times until the door finally swung open. Vince Walker stood by the doorway, coffee mug in hand. For a brief moment, neither of us spoke. Then he sighed. “I wondered how long it would take.” My eyes darkened. “You have some nerve.” He leaned against the doorframe. “I could say the same thing.” The coffee mug shattered against the porch when I knocked it from his hand. “You slept with my wife.” He glanced down at the broken ceramic pieces “You’re angry.” “Angry?” I laughed bitterly. “You think I’m angry?” In one swift movement, I grabbed him by the collar and shoved him against the wall. The impact rattled a nearby picture frame inside the house. He didn’t fight back and that only made me even more furious. “Look at me.” He met my gaze. “You destroyed my marriage.” His jaw tightened. “No.” My grip tightened. “No?” “No.” His voice was calm. “Your marriage was already broken.” My fist crashed into the wall beside Vince's head. “Careful.” His expression hardened. “You came here for answers, not a prison sentence.” I stepped back, barely. Every instinct screaming at me to hit the man. To make him hurt, to make him pay but instead I forced myself to speak. “How long?” Vince remained silent. “How long?” I roared. He looked away. “Eight months.” I felt my whole world tilt. His eyes narrowed. “You want someone to blame? Fine. Blame me.” “I do!” I said “But don’t pretend you don’t know why she came to me.” The silence that followed was deafening because I did know. I knew every missed anniversary, every unanswered call, every night I had chosen business over home and every promise I'd broken. But still, non of that justified betrayal. Nothing did. Vince exhaled slowly. “She loved you.” “Loved?” Vince nodded. “More than you deserved.” I stared at him. “Stay away from her.” His expression became unreadable. “That’s her choice.” I stepped forward but he didn’t move. He didn't flinch or back down. That's when I realized something terrifying. This wasn’t some random affair. This man cared about her. I took a step back, “This isn’t over.” He nodded. “No.” “It isn’t.” I turned and walked away.
