Chapter 6 - He could be a serial killer

2007 Words
“I can’t believe they are siblings.” Tiffany gawks, staring ahead, chewing on her red apple. “Yeah.” I shake my head. Were staring at the sunset on the school’s field. I’m supposed to be at home already but I didn’t feel like going. This is the most adrenaline and drama I went through in all my school years. All my life actually. “They must have the worst of parents, given what big jerks they are.” I look at Tiffany, “Really? Terrace is a jerk as well?” I ask, knowing the answer but wanting to hear her answer. “Yeah!” She scoffs as if it’s obvious. “How come?” I ask, chuckling. “Just one of those guys who just uses girls.” She shrugs, taking another large bite from her apple. “Yeah, but wasn’t that what you wanted though?” I ask with suspicion. “Wanted what?” I can see her glaring at me from the side. “You know, s*x?” “Yeah but I also wanted more than that.” She shakes her head, throwing the last bit of her apple on the open field. “Like what?” I ask, smirking. “Dates and stuff.” Her head swings from left to right, as she pulls her knees to her chest. “I've never even been on a date.” I complain, hoping to make her feel better. “Well you walked with Ashton today.” She smiles. “Yeah, but that’s not really a date even.” “Yeah but still. He’s nice and handsome.” She speaks the truth but I can’t unfeel the pit in my stomach that he only noticed me when I didn’t look poor. “Can I borrow some clothes tomorrow too?” Her eyes light up, “Yes!” She loves it. She loves doing make-overs and dressing up. It just feels that I can’t go back to my original clothes. “I should go back home.” I say but I don’t even feel like standing up. “Me too.” Tiffany says, staring ahead. Sitting a few more minutes in silence I stand up, she follows me with a heavy grunt. “I feel so lazy.” She comments and I nod, feeling exactly the same. After we said our goodbyes, I start to slowly walk back home. I feel happy when the streets aren't as busy as I thought. I hate to walk when there’s loads of cars passing by, seeing me. My mind whurs in a blur to the events that happened today and I notice how my mind lingers longer to Terrace. I look at my wrist and I swear I still feel the warmth of his hand, spreading over my whole arm. I sigh. He’s a jerk. A very handsome one and I hate the fact that I’m even thinking of him. I kick a small rock as I walk, making him the victim of my hard thoughts. What is it about him, besides that he’s a godly specimen and knowing that he probably broke hundreds of girls' hearts. Such a guy doesn’t deserve a second thought but here I am, thinking about him. I don’t want to, but I can’t help it. It’s like a sin a keep going back to. I grit my teeth hard, making the thoughts of him crumble with a strong will, until there is nothing left but stress for the upcoming exams and what I’m going to do when I’m done. I don’t even know. I should start sending out resumes or do something at least if I really want to move out of the house and start something big. I think about the steps I need to take and feel overwhelmed. I sigh as I turn into a busier street and feel goosebumps when a car’s engine moves with me, a few inches behind. I don’t want to look behind and feel like a victim of the car following me. Maybe it isn’t following me. Maybe the owner of the car just has car problems and it happens to be right where I am. I swallow all my gathered spit and grit my teeth. I want to walk faster but I also don’t want to make the person in the car suspicious. I jerk, almost falling forward when the car’s loud hooter honks behind me. The blood drains from my body as I fall forward, miscalculating a step. For a second time today I fall on my knees, making a loud thud and brown dust splashes around me. What does this person want? I switched back to my old clothes and that usually made me get absolutely no attention at school, as for today in school. I pull myself up, hastily patting some dirt from my pants and look behind. “You’re quite a show there, Rosie.” Oh no. It’s Terrace. He’s climbing out of his black fancy car. I feel an overwhelming sense of relief, knowing it’s just him and not some psycho, who would have stolen me but I still feel ridiculously nervous, feeling his aurora nearing me. I scoff at him as he stands before me with his hands in his pockets and chewing on another piece of wood. He smirks at me making a rush of adrenaline flow through my body. We stare at each other for a full minute before he starts to speak again. “Can I give you a lift?” “No!” I say too quickly, my voice high. “Okay.” He throws his hands in the air, showing a joking defense. I glance at two cars passing us, feeling uncomfortable. Sheould’nt he feel uncomfortable to be seen with me? Especially with his status. I look like a poor wreck and yet he stands before me, ignoring the cars passing us. I raise my eyebrows, “Isn’t there a girl waiting for you. In a jacuzzi maybe or something.” I mock him. He looks at his watch and with just a quick glance I can tell it’s one expensive watch. “I might.” He says and by the tone I can’t tell if he's serious or joking. I roll my eyes and fold my arms over my chest. I notice his eyes linger over my body and I feel completely uncomfortable, knowing I’mnot wearing the decent clothes I wore earlier. “Okay.” I say, on the verge of turning away from him and continue to walk home. He chuckles, “You sure you don’t want a ride.” We both look at his car and I feel a sudden feel of longing in my heart. This beautiful car. I only had the opportunity to ride in a car about ten times in my whole life. I swallow, “Can I ask you something?” “Yes.” He says eagerly, biting his lips. I shake myself out of this upcoming trance of staring at his wet lips. I don’t know what it is but his lips draw me in places I’ve never felt drawn before. “I don’t want you to take me home, but can I go for a ride with you?” “Always.” His voice is sincere, making me frown. Maybe I should run away. What did I get myself into? What if he thinks were going to have s*x? I decide I’m going to walk away, but when he opens the passenger door for me and looks at with big eyes, the decision fades away. I swipe my tongue over my teeth, wait a brief moment before I carefully climb into the car. The smell of newness and leather hits my nose. Everything is black and red inside. Black and red and so awesome. I try hard to keep in my shriek of excitement. I don’t know what car this is, but I know this is a car smarter than most cars. I look down at my ugly outfit, feeling like I don’t belong. He’s probably going to regret saying yes to me, when he says I don’t fit with the theme of his car. I sigh, feeling relieved when he climbs in with no regretted expression on his face. My eyes wander to his hand that he places steadily on the steering wheel. The veins runs deep and I don’t know why, but I feel attracted to his hands. His fingers are long and neat. I think I’ve always had some kind of hand fetish, because I always like guys' hands. I frown in disgust. If someone could read or hear my thoughts, I’m sure they would be completely weirded out. When he starts the engine, I quickly reach for the safety belt behind me. “No need.” He utters, rolling his eyes at me. “What?” I ask. If he’s going to tell meI shouldn’t wear a safety belt I would give him a fine lecture. I didn’t sit hours in a class being told how we must always wear safety belts in cars. “I’m a good driver, there’s no need to wear it.” He gives me a sideways glance and I notice him clenching on his jaw. I take a deep breath, leaving the safety belt, making a smirk play on his face. “If I die and I don’t, I’ll be haunting you forever.” I say, trying to sound as scary as possible. “Will I be seeing your face?” He asks with a light chuckle. His eyes are intensely on the road, as he slowly drives me the opposite direction of home. “Well, yeah.” I suggest, raising my shoulders. I want to ask him where we’re going but I don’t want him to feel irritated by me. “Well with a face like yours, I wouldn’t mind.” His voice is deep and I swear I feel flutters in my stomach. Also, this is the second time today, I got a compliment from a guy. “Well it isn’t about that.” I say surprising myself. “What do you mean?” He looks at me with a beautiful smile and I can't help but smile back and the glancing makes my cheeks turn into flames. We smile at each other for a few more seconds, before I turn my head, looking at the passing cars and blurring trees. “It’s about what’s inside.” I say. I can see him shifting into a thinking zone; he just frowns ahead, without saying anything. After a few minutes of silence and small glances at him, I open my mouth, “Hey Terrace?” He hums in response, not looking at me. “Can I ask you something?” He grins, “You don’t have to ask me if you can ask a question.” he says with a stern voice. “Okay, well, can we play some music.” I ask politely. He turns at me, “Sure, you can connect your phone.” Embarrassed , my cheeks turn red, “Oh well, I don’t have a phone.” He frowns, “Checkin there, there might be some CD’s.” He shows me the cable in front of me and I hesitantly open it. “Wow.” I say in awe, seeing so many CD cases packed neatly in rows. “Yeah, I have a lot more at home. I like to collect them.” He says, grinning. “Really?” I say, taking out an album with a photo of four guys , their faces painted badly, a large heading ‘kiss’ is splattered over the photo. I’ve never heard them but they seem dope. I take out another CD case, reading Elvis. “Oh, I love Elvis!” I shriek excitedly. “Oh no.” He moans, with a huge smile on his beautiful face. “What?” i whine at him, slowly taking the CD out of it’s case.
