Chapter Six: Zor

Zorach's Pov "Come meet me at my chambers right now!" A firm order sounded in my ears. I dropped my sword and put my training gears aside and hastily made my way towards the Alpha's chambers, his voice was unmistakable and I knew better than anyone else the perils of defying his orders. The guards bowed slightly at the sight of me and yanked the doors to the chamber open, they had obviously anticipated my presence. Sucking in air into my lungs, I took a step forward and then another until I was few meters away from the alpha, he had his back turned at me and seemed to be lifeless as his figure was motionless. "Alpha, you called for me." I said respectfully. His lifeless figure finally moved and he turned to face me, I bent my head and didn't dare look him in the eye, he rose up and began to walk towards me, I stiffened and he placed a hand on my shoulder. "Zorach, I've repeatedly told you not to address me as Alpha whenever we're alone." He said tiredly. I released the breath I didn't realize I was still holding. "I dare not forget my origin." I argued. He sighed resignedly. "Zorach, I know you remember vividly how I brought you back from your pack and adopted you as a son but you must also know that I love you the same way or even more than I do love Damien who's my biological son, you're my bloodline whether it is true or not, stop beating yourself to it and behave like my son, please." He pleaded. I licked my lips gently, he looked me in the eye and his eyes spoke of nothing but tenderness and a father's love but I knew where I stood, I was no where comparable with Damien, he had Father's hair, his eyes, his strength, his aura and everything else, I could only be grateful for being a son. "Have you considered the offer I made you?" He suddenly asked. I sighed. "Father...." I began. "I have no interest in becoming the alpha of this pack, it is not my right. I'd rather spend the rest of my life defending the pack and keeping everyone else safe." I confessed. He chuckled softly and patted me on the shoulder "Come, sit with me." He offered. I took the initiative and sat beside him on his huge bed, he reached out and gave a box to me, he gave me a 'go ahead, open it's look and I opened the box to see a fine regalia embroidered with gold, his initials were embodied at the hem and I quickly placed it back into the box. "It's yours, before you refuse me, I want you to know that yes it is exactly what you're thinking, it's my own cloth and since you refused to have the throne, your brother has gotten a mate for himself and the ceremony is stated for later tonight, I want you to wear this there, a symbol that you're my son, my pride." Father said proudly. Tears filled my eyes. "Father." I said quietly. "I know you have no ambitions so please don't say no to me, whichever girl you want I will give to you and whatever you want is yours." He bragged. I closed my eyes for a second and wondered why I found favor in his sight. "May the goddess repay your kindness and bless you abundantly Father." I prayed. "She has already blessed me, you and Damien are my greatest blessings, now hurry up and get some rest, who knows? You might find your mate tonight as well." He joked. I laughed softly and stood up, the box in hand. "I'll take my leave now." I said courteously. "May the goddess be with you." "Thank you Father." I whispered and excused myself from his chambers. My chest almost burst with emotions as I went back to my chamber and stared at the cloth he gave to me, after my pack was raided and set ablaze when I was just four years old, I was the only survivor and the alpha came with his soldiers as soon as they heard we were attacked but they were too late, he took me in and didn't give me a title but instead adopted me as his son and only few people knew I wasn't really his son. I smiled and took a bath before proceeding to rest before the ceremony began. Three hours later, Cullen; my personal guard and friend awoke me and I prepared for the ceremony. I walked majestically to where the ceremony was to take place and sighted Damien from afar with his mate to be. "Damien." I called out. The couple turned to look at me, Damien scowled and frowned his face, I didn't take it to heart but instead stood there to congratulate them. "Congratulations Brother." I said wholeheartedly. "You're here?" Damien asked. "I live here." I joked. He hissed and threw me a light punch while his woman laughed, I turned to take a good look at her and she was more beautiful than I could ever imagine and most importantly, she wasn't Mel. "Well hello there Milady." I greeted and did a little bow. I took her hand and planted a gentle kiss on it. "What are you doing?" Damien asked, red-faced. The lady laughed. "What's this? You're jealous of your brother? Hilarious." She mocked. His face went red with embarrassment. I cleared my throat, seeing they were both interested in each other. I was curious since I've known Mel to be Damien's woman but this was an entirely different person whom Damien seemed to be protective of. "Where's Mel?" I asked curiously. Damien's expression turned sour. "She's fine, probably preparing an elegant dress awaiting to dazzle everyone with her beauty." The Lady said. "Interesting." I replied. Damien scoffed. "I didn't catch your name, what is your name?" She asked curiously. "Zorach, you can call me Zor." I introduced.
