Chapter 56

1596 Words

Lyla's POV I woke up feeling amazing. Maxten and I went two rounds last night, and it had honestly taken it all out of me. I had slept so hard and it was probably the best night of sleep I've had, in I don't know how long, and today I get to help Everette put his proposal together. He didn't want to wait, and I was so excited to do this. I reached over to feel for Maxten, but he was out of bed already, so I rolled over, grabbed my phone and underneath it was a folded-up piece of paper with my name written in beautiful writing across the front. My heart sank as a horrible feeling settled into the pit of my stomach. I held the paper in my hands and debated about opening it up or not. If I didn't open it up, I could live in the fantasy land that I had been in for the last few months.
