Lyla's POV I knew that Maxten had some things he needed to work through, and I hoped that giving him space was going to help him. He left the house and I spent the evening with the girls. It was wonderful and just what I needed, but now I was standing outside of Rush's office. I knew this was where he was. They were holding him here, and I wanted him to stay locked up forever. I couldn't bear the thought of someone killing him, but he could spend the rest of his miserable life locked in a dark cell thinking about all the horrible things he has done. Conrad and I talked this morning about doing this. He made it clear that it wasn't something I had to do, but it was something I needed to do. I needed to talk to him and tell him that he wasn't going to win this one. I needed to take that
