The eagerness to remove the mask from the woman's face, who was resting beside him, completely invaded Carter, but he was a man of his word, and if she didn't want to show him her face, he would respect her decision. Besides, he had given her the bracelet that belonged to his mother, and he had told her he would find her later.
He didn't know why he had done it; maybe he had fallen in love at first sight with the young woman, or maybe it was because she gave him her virginity. If there was one thing CEO Smith was sure of, it was that this woman had been a virgin the night before. And it wasn't just because of the bloodstained white sheets, but also because of the woman's tightness and the exquisitely inexperienced way her hands moved.
He smiled, standing up, hating the idea of leaving her, but he had to fulfill his plan, his promise, and his word. The promise he had made at his brother's grave years ago was to make Kelsea Anderson pay for all the harm she had done to his brother causin g him to commit suicide. He left his club and drove to the mansion where he was staying.
"I had to go home alone; I waited for you for hours, but Mr. Smith chose to stay with that stranger all night," said Albert, Carter's best friend and right-hand man.
"Don't talk nonsense; she's no longer a stranger," he said, quickly taking off his clothes.
"Sorry for offending your girlfriend," he said, mockingly placing his hand on his chest. "What's the name of the sexy woman?"
Carter remained motionless. "She didn't tell me," he responded with a pale expression, "but I know how to find her." He smiled at the memory of her. Never before had a woman occupied his thoughts so intensely.
"It would be good if this woman could take you away from the absurd idea of seeking revenge for Seb's death."
"We're not going to talk about that again; it's better if you get to work," he said, dragging him out of his room and beginning to dress up.
Carter was a handsome man, almost perfect, both physically and intellectually. He owned many clubs and casinos. His brother's suicide left him alone in the world, turning him into a ruthless and revenge-hungry man.
…
When he arrived at his new business partner's house, his heart was beating fast. He was finally going to fulfill his promise and seek his revenge. He felt the pain in his chest, and rage consumed him. Carter didn't know the appearance of the woman who had harmed his brother, but he knew her name; his brother had left it in the letter explaining the reason for his suicide, and that name engraved itself like a dagger in his mind: Kelsea Anderson.
…
"Good morning; my name is Carter Smith," he said as he approached the table. Kelsea slowly looked up. That voice could only belong to the man who had made her a woman the night before. It was him, her prince charming, but what was he doing there? Was he her father's partner?
She bit her lip, and for an instant, their eyes met, but there was something different in this man's gaze compared to the gaze of the man who had made her a woman, because this man had a cold and terrifying look in his eyes.
"Mr. Carter, it's a pleasure to have you with us," greeted James Anderson, shaking the man's hand.
"The pleasure is mine," he responded calmly.
"Look, she is my daughter." Carter looked at the girl standing next to her mother and grabbed her hand to kiss her.
Suddenly, something inside him froze when he saw his mother's bracelet on her wrist. Oppression in his chest overwhelmed him, filling him with the fear of realizing that there was a possibility that the woman he had slept with the night before was his brother's killer.
"Kacey Anderson," said the young woman with a smile.
Carter smiled in her direction upon hearing her name. He took a deep breath and then turned his gaze to the other twin. It was clear that she was the woman who had caused his brother to lose his mind and commit suicide.
"And this is Kelsea Anderson," her father said.
Carter looked at Kelsea with deep hatred. He didn't even dare touch her hand, and that shattered Kelsea into pieces because she was sure that the man in front of her was the one who had taken her virginity.
"Damn fate," Kelsea thought, lowering her gaze.
"And I'm Caroline. It is a pleasure to have the most sought-after and wealthy man in my house," said her mother, and Carter smiled tensely.
They proceeded to eat. The tension at the table was obvious, not only because Kelsea couldn't utter a single word but also because Carter and Kacey wouldn't stop talking in a friendly manner, and that made Kelsea nervous because, after all, he wanted to marry her father's partner.
"And you, Kelsea? Any past boyfriends? Any man you loved and then broke his heart?" Smith's eyes settled on Kelsea's green eyes. Despite having her face marked, the woman in front of him managed to turn his world upside down by making his heart beat so fast.
"No, there is no past in my life," she replied, feeling her mouth trembling nervously.
"Are you sure?" he insisted.
"Yes, I'm sure." she replied, raising her gaze.
Carter felt anger rise through his body. He wanted to stand up and kill the woman with his hands. However, he took a deep breath. If he had waited so long, "What would it cost him to wait a few more days?" he thought, smiling tensely.
"It's time for me to go; it was a pleasure meeting your daughter, James Anderson," said Carter, standing up.
James was nervous; the CEO hadn't said which woman he would choose to marry, although he was sure it was Kacey. He had talked the whole morning with Kacey, his precious daughter. Aside from that, who would marry Kelsea, that monster of a woman? But Carter's words left everyone confused; even Kelsea didn't know how to react to those words.
"Prepare Kelsea Anderson for tomorrow; I will marry her," Carter said, looking at Kelsea as if she were prey he would slowly consume.
