Chapter 14

The next day, Ash arrived at my door. We were sitting on the porch with Ash holding tightly to Bell. Ash was right; he is a very decent cat. His green eyes staring lovingly at Ash, and I can hear his purring. Both of them are quite fond of each other now. "You do remember that we had to return Bell to Ivy right?" I ask him. "Yeah, I do, that's the reason why I'm here today, Danny," his eyes still attached to Bell's. "You know, maybe we can ask Ivy to let us take care of Bell, I'm pretty much sure she wouldn't mind right? Bell needs a human not a ghost, no offence to Ivy though," Millie interrupted suddenly. I was surprised with her statement, judging from what she is right now, but I think she's right, maybe we can ask that to Ivy.     "Millie told me to ask if we can take care of Bell to Ivy," I returned to Ash. He immediately jumps in excitement, "Are you going to then?" his tone full of hopes. I just nodded my head to him. 'Yeahhh!! I hope she will agree to it. Thank you, Millie," he screamed in delight. Then he started kissing Bell, and his purring becomes louder than before. Millie just giggled in her seat. Yup, Ash is attached to the cat now.     We arrived at Ivy's house. She lives in a quiet nice neighbourhood, with rows of modern looking separate double-storey houses and a huge lawn, much larger than ours on each of their houses. Ivy's house is Number 38. Standing now at her front gate, looking at her nice but dark house. "Did you see her anywhere Dan?" Ash asks. "No, I don't see her," I replied. "Maybe, we can just try opening the gate," Millie suggested beside me. She looks very thrilled with this new adventure that she's in right now. I was about to say that we shouldn't do that then suddenly the gate opens with a loud creak noise that made the three of us jumps. We turned to look at each other faces, Ash, with a horror look upon his face, and Millie made a gulping sound, "did you open the gate, Dan?" Ash mumbles at me. "I didn't." Bell suddenly meowing loudly and started getting off from Ash's arms. He sprang down; stretch a little and started running in towards the house." No, Bell!" yelled Ash. Ash wanted to chase him, but stops himself halfway. He turns to look at me, "what should we do now Danny? Are you sure this is the right house?"     "I think so if her vague memory can remember her address well," I stated. "What?Vague memory? Are you saying that ghosts don't have a good memory, Danny? And you still trusted her when she gives out the address?" Ash asks frantically. "Look, if we just going to stand here doing nothing, then we wouldn't find any answers. So, the gates already open, let's go in," Millie says determinedly. She didn't wait for my answer and just charge in without a glance back."Millie, wait," I said urgently. "What? What is it? What's wrong with Millie?"Ash sounded breathless next to me. I ignored him and made my way inside too, I hear a fast pace sounds of footsteps behind me. I look back and saw Ash half running following me in.     We stand in the middle of the house huge lawn, it was dark; I took out my phone and turn on the flashlight. "Good thinking," Ash whispered behind me. I started walking slowly with the help of the light; Ash pursuing behind, making sure to stay close to me. I can see the lawns were well kept. The flowers were blooming beautifully. Did someone have been taking care of it? I asked myself. Then I remembered we need to find Millie and Bell, "Millie..." I half-whispered calling her. 'Bell... my little whisky..." Ash calls out too. Then I can feel the change of air around me, it's turning cold. I stand very still and started to feel the hairs at the back of my neck rising, my eyes searching everywhere. "I have been waiting for you..." says a whispering voice in my right ear. Then I feel a cold touch on my hand and I started to scream like a freaking maniac.
