Still rapping my arms around my man,when we heard the knock.Two sharp raps against the front door.Not the polite knock of a neighbour.Not the lazy knock of a delivery boy.This was urgent.David pulled the pillow over his head.Ignored it".it's 10 Am",I whispered.Who comes knocking at 10 Pm.The knock came again,louder this time.I slipped out of his arms,my heart was already beating too fast.I told my self it was nothing.A wrong address .By my gut said other wise.I opened the door.A woman stood there.mid twenties,pressed black blazer,skirt that hit just above the knees,a leather folder tucked under her arm.Her hair was pulled back in a neat bun,her makeup minimal but deliberate.She looked like every corporate secretary i would ever seen in David's office.Except I didn't recognise her.Good morning,ma", she said,smiling like we were old acquaintances.i'm sorry for coming this early.I'm crystal,David's new personal secretary .He asked me to drop off the contract files before his 1 PM meeting.Is he up?The words hit me like cold water,.New secretary personal secretary since when?I didn't move.David didn't mention hiring anyone new.''Her smile didn't flatter,but something flicked in her eye.It was a last minute decision,ma.mr David said he needed someone he could trust with the sensitive files.He told me to come directly here.Trust? The word sat wrong in my mouth.Behind me ,I heard movement.David's voice,still thick with sleep.Zara who is that? Pls come to the bed i want to hold you.I didn't answer him,I stepped aside and let the woman in.David appeared in his boxers and rumpled Tshirt,hair sticking up,The moment he saw her,he froze.crystal?His voice was sharp,stepping forward..Sir she said am sorry for the intrusion .you said it was urgent David took the folder with looking at me.you shouldn't have come here.I told you to send it to the office.You said it couldn't leave your hands,sir.for security reasons."I folded my hands, leaning against the door frame.Since when do you have a personal secretary, David? And why am I hearing it from her? David looked at me,then back at crystal.Zara is not what you think,everything is not about me cheating on you. did I mention that? Zara asked him.crystal was hired last week.HR said I needed support for the dubai deal.I didn't want to border you with it."Border me?Like this was paper work.like the woman standing in my living room wasn't looking at me like i was the outsider.I turned to zara.You work in his office and you don't know i exist? Worry,am confused.I laughed and it came out harder than I meant it to.Protective of him? his the one who need protecting from himself David,lowering his voice please honey not now,not in front of her. Why not? she is your secretary,she should know who she is working for.And who you're married to.crystal acting uncomfortable, sir i leave the files here,sir i'm sorry for the misunderstanding.'David walked her to the door,speaking low,too low for me to hear.When he came back i was still standing there,arms crossed ,waiting.you hired a secretary without telling me,"I said. i was going to tell you," he said.After the meeting it's a big deal,zara were set for the year.And you needed a young woman to handle it? Her name is crystal .She is qualified.She's worked with three C.E.Os before me.Qualified to do what,David?Because from where I'm standing,she looks more like a distraction than a secretary.Zara please don't start this now.Please not now.Start what?asking questions,caring about my marriage? Or am i supposed to just smile and defend you like I always do? I'm tired,Zara. am tired of explaining my self.I'm tired of you assuming the worst. And am tired of being the last to know everything about my own husband. David stepped closer,his voice dropping.You want to know why I didn't tell you? Because i knew you would react like this.Because you don't trust me.not really.Not anymore."I swallowed everything.He wasn't wrong.But trust is a two way street.And he kept taking exits I didn't know existed.Who is she David? I asked quietly. Really? She is my secretary," he said.That's it.That's all she is ."But his eyes didn't meet mine when she said it.That's all she is."I nodded slowly."Okay.Then i will go to the office today.I will meet crystal properly.I will meet the whole HR team.Since so busy,i will make sure your files are safe."His mood changed immediately.Don't do that zara,don't embarrass me.Embrace you? I stepped back,arm falling to my side,You brought her to my house,david you let her call me ma like am your staff. What's more.What more embarrassing than that? He didn't answer.I walked pass him to the bedroom and started dressing.jeans,blouse,flat shoes.No makeup I didn't need to look nice for his secretary.I needed to look like a wife,who was done being kept in the dark.Where are you going? he asked.To find out who is really running your office,i said over my shoulder.Zara Don't follow me,i cut him off.Not today.Zara don't go to my office,this is lack of trust,if you go there you won't like the outcome.I left him standing in the middle of the living room,the contract folder still in his hands,his face a mix of guit and frustration.I never wanted to go to his office,but his character shows that crystal is not just a secretary,but one of his girlfriends.Then because of that his facial expression,i said to my self that i must go to his offices,this time around i need to see things my self. Then again if she was just a secretary,how did she know me before i knew her? I was emotionally down,what if all I thought in my heart is true.And why did David look more afraid of me finding out that i was of finding out. Zara's decision to go to the office,creates immediate tension.But why? Why is he afraid? Is Crystal not his secretary anymore? is there something else fishing that am not away of.I'm so confused,or am i over reacting.

I'm I acting out of jealousy.
