Bumping into the Beta

Enyo Burnside (Bumping into the Beta) The sparks were far more than with Ben, they surged through me making my wolf howl in appreciation. She wanted to mark and take him then and there if she had the chance. The look of confusion when I asked about the attack, he and his people were meant to have committed. All that I could feel from him was the truth when he told me he never had anything to do with it. For the first time in four years I felt something more than just rage and the need for revenge. Even though as soon as I lost that connection that feeling quickly returned, he gave me a feeling of calm I felt like I needed. All too soon the howl of the Beta of my pack burst through my calmness. I need Clayton to go, asking him and seeing the hurt and reluctance on his handsome face shattered a part of me I didn’t even know I had. The way he cups my face has my core throbbing, but the soft kiss has me coating my thighs with my juices. Another howl lets me know they are closing in on our location. Agreeing to meet him tomorrow fills my stomach with butterflies. Who even am I? This is all new to me, Ben was in a coma for the full eight hours I knew he was my mate. I was and still am a virgin, I wanted to be pure for my mate and after that day the only thing I wanted to do with anyone was kill them. So that small kiss was my first, I know how sad that makes me at twenty two and never kissed. I had bigger things to deal with than my first kiss. He shifts and takes off, but not before he turns back to look at me, his wolf giving a small whimper in protest. Even though I have seen his wolf before it still takes my breath away, he is stunning and huge. Quickly stepping into the burn I wipe myself hoping Beta Gavin and whoever is with him doesn’t smell my arousal. Gavin the large t**t skids to a halt in front of me then shifts back to his human form and begins to look around. I watch him with a bored look on my face, two other wolves appear, both shift back to their human form. “What?” I say as Gavin’s beady eyes land on me. “There have been reports of a rogue’s on packlands, why are you out here at this time of night?” He asks, narrowing his eyes at me suspiciously. I narrow my eyes at him, and place a hand on my hip, “What the f**k does that have to do with you?” I snap at this overgrown orangutan. My wolf growls in my head as he walks towards me. “Who do you think you are talking to? I am the Beta of this pack, you need to show me respect” I burst out laughing and watch as the two warriors cover their own laughter. “Respect, f**k off Gav. Go crawl back up Dylan's ass, half the time you can't tell where he starts and you finish” I say in between laughing. Gavin reaches out trying to grab me while growling. I step back, just out of reach. “You don’t want to do that now do you Gav, I think we both know it won't end well for you” I watch as he takes heed of my warning, before growling in frustration. “One day you will pay for this. Don’t think I won't be telling the Alpha about your disrespect” He spits in my face, his breath fanning my face as spittle sprays over me, but even then I smile at him. “He ante my f*****g Alpha, and tell him what the f**k you want you giant ass snitch” I say with a smirk before shifting into my wolf and taking off back towards the barricks. I hear a slight chuckle from the two warriors who both nod their respect. I smile to myself at this, you see the younger warriors train with me, run patrol with me so when it comes to most things they side with me. Well except against the Alpha and Beta, they see the punishment I get put through so I don’t mind that they do as told by them. Their wolves follow hierarchy and chain of command by instinct. Once you see a public punishment like I have had many times over the last four years, you don’t want to be subjected to the same. Being tied to the post in the town centre and whipped in front of the whole pack definitely sends a message to everyone else. I would smile the whole time even though I was screaming in agony in my head there was no way I would give them the satisfaction of hearing me. No, I would break in private as the wolfsbane that they dip the cat of nine tails whip in before starting, making sure my back heals slowly, stopping our advanced healing and leaving my back full of scars for all to see as a warning. They had the exact opposite effect as I wear them as battle scars, a reminder to myself of the pain my parents went through and the revenge I will lay down upon those who are responsible for their deaths. Arriving at the barracks in no time as my wolf is fast, very fast and agile. She has no need to wait for the others. All I wanted is to shower and get some sleep, even though I am half expecting the ponce of an Alpha and his sidekick Beta to turn up, but they don’t. That night I fell asleep with no hassle or alcohol, just thoughts of the rogue Alpha the Goddess had given me as a second chance mate. Soon my happy place changes shape and I am back in the mortuary with my parents' bodies laid out in front of me. My mother’s eyes shoot open, making me step back and gasp in shock. She grabs my hand, saying something but I couldn't understand so I lean a little closer “Things aren't as they seem, don't trust any of them, look into the Opal Moon wolves” She says just above a whisper. Before I sat up gasping for air soaked in sweat; Well that was new, I think as I look at the window realising it's still dark outside. I snuggle back down as my mind starts to play over and over my mothers words of warning, and who were the Opal Moon wolves? And why do I need to search for them?
