Chapter 2 SAPPHIRE'S POV: I took my time to comprehend what he had just shot at me. The name he called with so much confidence, brought a sense of disturbance. "Stephanie.", I repeated, faintly. "Stephanie..." "Just leave, you are interrupting my moment and weren't you supposed to follow---" "Don't you dare speak about any tradition to me!." I pointed my finger at me. "Don't you dare give me a reason to hate you more than I have already." At that moment, my eyes rolled back in fear and I moved back bit by bit. Riley abruptly grabbed my neck and pinned me on the door. "Hate me." He bellowed. L "I never really loved you in the first place, I wondered what makes you think I would fall for a girl like you, I don't love you." His words occupied my heart and did me as much damage as possible, but I refused to believe his words. "I don't believe you Riley." "Whether you believe me or not. I don't care now, get out before I do something that you are going to hate yourself for the rest of your life!." He roared out with no remorse in his eyes. Truly, he never loved me. It was all in my reverie... "Are you going to leave or should I throw you out?!" "Why did you do this to me? if you never loved me then you should have told me from the start." " I have had just about enough of your drama." Riley Thundered. "I Riley snow, reject you, Sapphire fox, as my mate." "RILEY!" "And take Stephanie Hale as my mate." I should have left when he told me to, I shouldn't have been stubborn. Now I'm lost in a void of rejection. My Alpha rejected me, that for someone I never thought of; Stephanie Hale. I staggered backwards, my eyes shifted to the side only to be corroded by Stephanie. My eyes were heavy, my soul shook, was it really Stephanie? Was it all my hallucination? Was it really my friend? "You." I managed to say. "I can't believe you'd backstab me someday like this." "I didn't backstab you, I actually took what was rightfully mine from me." "I took what was rightfully yours? how?" "Don't play the victim." She scowled at me. "I have always been there for you, but you turned your back on me at the last minute." I fail to understand everything she was saying, Stephanie was always more than a friend. I considered her as my sister but now, it seems everything was a lie. "I don't follow. I don't understand, I have never betrayed you, I haven't done something as bad to you!." Tears were becoming prominent in my eyes. I could feel them adding up and preparing to roll down my cheeks. "You both backstabbed me, and you're both going to regret it." "Get out!." Riley thundered and my heart crumbled that moment, I didn't wait, I didn't wait one more time to get shouted out. I left without saying a word back to them. I fled the Manor without looking back. I couldn't bare the pain and torture I received by just standing there. The night remained tranquil that day, my life was much darker than this. I felt empty and void inside. For hours, I trailed down the road to nowhere in particular, I just kept moving till I couldn't go any more. I ended up stopping at a bar along the way, it'd grabbed my attention, the sparkling colorful lights had attempted to lighten up my day but it wasn't enough. But I think I need to get myself a drink. Broken, destroyed, caught in despair. . . thanks to two people I thought were the whole world to me. No, I need a drink for real. I pushed the door open with my head blaring with everything, even the music wasn't enough to water down the thoughts. Thoughts which were already stitched to my mind inside out. The wooden floor creaked to my steps, the air grinded with scent of alcohol and perfume of several individuals that were present at the club I sat there at the bar, I could tell from the mirror on the wall that I was in a mess and nothing could fix it. "What would you---" "The usual." "Alright then." The bartender smiled and reached for a glass. I looked away and the smell of whiskey consumed and burned inside. 'How dare they do this to me?!' I thought, anger surged through me like a ferocious wind. I downed my drink In one gulp. The liquid left a trail of hot sensation and a sweet burning trail that left a long lasting effect on me. I laid the glass back on the counter. "Again." The bartender looked at me with a worried look. It's like he could tell the pain I was going through. "Again, what are you looking at?" "You look a bit down ma'am. I haven't had a customer like you in ages." "Doesn't matter, just get me another one." I demanded. "Alright." He grabbed my cup and poured another whiskey. I enjoyed the burning sensation that soared from it. I had already taken four more gulps before the bartender refused to give me another. "Ma'am... you have had way too much." "Doesn't concern you." I was about to stand up when a firm gentle grip brought me back down to the stool. "Get us another one." "Sir , you're here, erm, right away sir." Even though the world spun around me and added much more tension to my Disturbed heart, I could tell the man before me looked as though he was the owner of this club or probably, a regular customer like me. I couldn't get a proper glance of who he was, as he had thick black sunglasses on. "Four gulps in a roll. Are you okay?" He started a conversation I had no interest in. "I rarely see girls like you doing that for the sake of having fun." " I need it." I shrugged his hands off me and sat back on the stool. "You look messy, allow me to help me." "I don't need help." I got up and wanted to leave but he pulled me back. "Hey," I struggled. "Let me go." "If you have something troubling your heart then let me know, I can fix it. You don't need to worry, it can just be between the both of us and no one else." "I don't---" " Stop hesitating." I heard him get up from his stool and paced towards me. Abruptly, a firm grip pulled me to himself. "A night wouldn't hurt, you have to at least gush out your sorrows while you are here, so, what do you say?"
