Life is full of surprises. Beautiful surprises.
It was early in the morning. The sun has just started showing up. A girl was standing facing the sun with a coffee mug in her hand enjoying the beautiful view.
“Good morning, Nandini. Buck up you have to start a new a day here. A new life. So many new things are waiting for you. All the best.” The girl said to herself with a beautiful smile playing on her face.
It is Nandini Basu. She has shifted to Dehradhun recently with her family. She is in 10th standard. She is going to join Rosewood Academy from today.
“Nandini, are you up?” Saheli, Nandini’s mother came to wake her up.
Nandini came in from terrace. “Yes, mom, I am up.”
Saheli passed a smile to her. “It’s your first day at school. Get ready fast and come down. I will make the breakfast.”
Nandini nodded and her mother left from there.
She went to take shower and got ready in her school uniform. Taking her belongings, she went out to her mother.
“I am ready, mom.” Nandini said coming in front of her.
Saheli smiled seeing her. “You go and call Rahul. I will see your papa.”
Nandini nodded and ran to her bhai’s room.
“Bhai?” She called him from out.
“Nandini, come in…..” He called her.
“Bhai, are you ready? Mom asked you to come for breakfast.” Nandini said while checking herself in his mirrror.
Rahul nodded. “I will come in a minute.”
Nandini said okay and went out to dining room.
“Bhai is coming.” Nandini told her mother.
Maya was laying the breakfast on the table.
A few minutes later, Kunal and Rahul came there. Nandini and Maya too settled there with them.
There was a silence in the table. Everyone was having there breakfast quietly.
Kunal broke the silence. “Nandini?”
Nandini moved her head up to look at her father. She was nervous. She is scared of her father a lot. Whenever he calls for her, she becomes nervous. "Yes, papa.”
“It’s your first day at school.”
Nandini nodded her head.
“Rosewood Academy is the best school in the Dehradhun. You are fortunate that you have got admission in the school. But let me tell you, you have to follow their rules carefully. The school authority is really strict about their rules and regulations. I don’t want any complaint against you. Do you get it?” Kunal completed strictly.
Nandini was already scared about the new place and new school. But hearing her father her nervousness grew more. She couldn’t say anything so in response she just nodded her head looking down. Nandini turned to look at her brother who gave her an assuring look that everything will be okay. Nandini smiled a little seeing that. She hurriedly completed her breakfast as she didn’t want to be late at the first day only.
“Bhai, will you drop me to school today? It’s my first day so I…..” Nandini said when they were going out.
Rahuk didn’t let her complete. “Of course, I will. It’s your first day, I can’t let you go alone.”
Nandini smiled brightly hearing him. She ran to grab her bag then went to the school with Rahul bidding bye to her mother.
Whole way Rahul was telling her about the place and giving her instructions like a toddler going to school for the first time. Nandini nodded her head in disbelief but she didn’t say anything as she knew how much he cares for her.
Rahul dropped her till the school gate and he kept standing there till Nandini moved in.
Nandini was walking through the corridor trying to find the office so that she can get her time table and complete the other admission procedure. She tried to ask some students but they were too busy to hear her. All the girls were busy in gossiping about some "Manik.”
Nandini was confused seeing their behavior.”Is he some new actor or what? Why is everyone so interested in him?” Nandini thought in mind while walking forward. She didn’t want know what to do. She was walking when out of nowhere she bumped into someone.
“Sorry...” Both of them mouthed together.
Nandini rose her face, there was a girl.
“Are you okay?” Nandini asked the girl.
The girl nodded with a smile. “You?”
Nandini also nodded.
“What’s your name? I didn’t see you here before.” The girl asked with a frown covering her forehead.
“Hi! I am Nandini. I am new here. Can you tell me where is the office room? I can’t find it.”
“Ohh… I am Tirtha by the way. I will show you the way. I am going to that side only. Come.”
Nandini nodded and went behind her.
Tirtha showed her the office and left from there.
Nandini went inside and completed all the formalities. Then the officer there called a peon and asked him to show Nandini her classroom. Nandini thanked him and went behind the peon. He dropped her till the classroom door.
She moved in and found everyone busy with their friends. There was still sometime left for classes so they were chilling. Nandini eyes fell on a girl.
Tirtha!!!
She spotted her. She is in her class only.
Nandini smiled and went near her.
“Hey,” Nandini called her.
Tirtha turned to her hearing the voice. She got surprised seeing her. “Hey, Nandini? You are here?”
“I am in this class only.” Nandini replied with a smile.
Tirtha too smiled brightly. “That’s great. Sit here. I will introduce my friends to you.”
Nandini nodded and took her seat beside her. Then Tirtha introduced Nandini to the girls. They welcome her quiet warmly except one or two.
The classes started. Teachers too got to know about the new girl in the class. It went well.
B R E A K T I M E
“Let’s go to canteen, Nandini. You need to see that.” Tirtha said Nandini while getting up from her place.
Nandini nodded and got up. She walked out with her. Nandini looked around and still found everyone gossiping about Manik only.
“Tirtha, do you know Manik?” Nandini asked curiously.
Tirtha gave her an ‘are you serious’ look. “Who doesn’t know him? By the way how do you know him? You are new here.” She was confused.
“I am seeing everyone gossiping actually fangirling him since morning. That’s why I asked. Why is he so famous?” Nandini said making it clear to her.
Tirtha nodded her head. “Manik Malhotra. He is the captain of our Academy’s Cricket Team. We won another match yesterday. He is in college section, our senior. But that’s not the real reason.”
“Then?” Nandini asked being confused.
“He is the hottest guy in the whole academy. Most handsome one and since the time he has been the captain, our school didn’t loose a single match. All the girls die for him. But he is not interested in them.” Tirtha cleared it to her.
Nandini made an oh face. “By the do you like him too?” she asked after a pause.
Tirtha laughed out loud. “No, I am not interested in him. He is way too much for me. But I like his best best best friend. Akash. He is also our senior. They are always together. They have another friend named Shree.”
“Does Akash know about you?” Nandini asked.
Tirtha made a pout. “Nope, he is also like his friend. Don’t care about girls. He is always busy with friends.”
Nandini nodded.
“I will show them to you.” Tirtha looked at her watch. “They won’t be in canteen now. I will take you to the field tomorrow. Manik will practice there but Akash and Shree will also be there.”
Nandini again nodded with a smile. Then they talked about other things after ordering their food.
Whole day passed like this.
The school hour finished. Nandini came out of school and found Rahul there waiting for him. Nandini bid bye to Tirtha and went to her brother.
“How was school? Did anyone say anything to you? ” Rahul asked as soon as Nandini reach near him.
Nandini smiled brightly. “Everything is fine, bhai. I like the school. It’s so good.”
Rahul also smiled. “That’s fine. Let’s go home then.”
Nandini nodded and went with him,
They reached home. Nandini freshened up and talked to her mother about her whole day. Then she went back to her room and completed her home work.
It was dinner time when her father came back home. They had their dinner together with little chit chats in between. He asked Nandini about her school. Nandini said it was good.
They finally called it a day…
They slept to welcome a new day… … … … ...
