Henry Carson frowned at Sophie Mitchell's accusations. “You’re overthinking it, Sophie,” he tried to reassure her. “I just did Zane Lee a small favor once, that’s why we got to know each other. And contrary to the rumors, he’s actually got a good heart.”
“I don’t buy it,” Sophie shot back, suspicion knitting her brows. “Tell me, the money you had before, was it not just from Dina Cooper’s settlement but also from Zane Lee? Did he pay for your loyalty with cash?”
Henry could only offer a wry smile and a shake of his head, “Rest assured, no matter how little my life may seem worth, I wouldn’t stoop to that. You know I’ve got to stay alive to find my sister, right?”
