Everything was perfect. And then that stupid wolf had to crash into the yard and ruin everything with its howling. But now that I’m in Riven’s bed, with him peacefully breathing next to me, his arm wrapped around my waist, I’m not sure if I should be angry at that old beast or grateful. Riven has been a true gentleman and didn’t try anything. He’s held me close to make me understand I was safe but in a respectful way. I smile in the dark, thinking how, as long as he’s been awake, he’s tried to keep a safe distance between us, even while hugging. And how, now that he’s sleeping, he’s smothering me with his body heat. One leg swung over my thigh, head resting in the nook of my shoulder. I’ve never felt safer in my entire life.
