Wendy is grounded. She’s staying in Utah for another six to eight weeks. I take in the doctor’s words with a mix of dread and elation. Next, I feel like a jerk for being even the slightest happy about Wendy smashing her face in the snow, having to undergo eye surgery, and then getting stuck away from home for two months. Away from her friends, from her work, from her lousy boyfriend… Oh my gosh, I’m the worst. The doctor leaves, and Wendy stares around the hospital chamber, utterly lost.
