“Dad, you just used the last money to gamble!” Ella screamed when she saw her father walk in, holding the papers from the gambling shop. “I could have won,” her father argued. “But everything just went wrong.” Ella rose from the couch and stood directly in front of him, her eyes filled with anger and disappointment. “I regret ever having you as our father. You owe people money every day. They keep coming here, taking our food, belongings, and even our property because of your debts. when he heard Ella said that he angrily raised his hand, Ella quickly held his hand. “You don’t deserve to be called a father, so you are not worth raising your hands on me” she said. and walked out, Lilian just kept quiet staring at her father with tearful eyes, " Don't stare at me like that" her father scream at her and angrily left the room leaving only Lilian and her thoughts. Lilian was Ella’s younger sister, and they were the only two daughters in the family. Sadly, the day Lilian was born, their mother died from severe bleeding during childbirth. From that moment, their father blamed Lilian for her mother’s death. His hatred grew so strong that he often wanted to sell Lilian to anyone willing to pay, just to get money for gambling. But Ella always stood between her sister and their father, refusing to let him harm her. Lilian was the prettier of the two sisters, but Ella never felt jealous.
