I smiled a little as I walked into my room. I quickly dropped my bag, took my bath changed into a crop top and shorts, then walked out toward the kitchen because I was already hungry.
As I was about entering the kitchen I saw dad coming out of his room.
“Hey, Dad. Good evening,” I greeted.
He didn't respond. I knew he was still angry because I had started working without telling him.
“Dad, I heard you received an envelope,” I said, staring at him, waiting for an answer.
“Is it your business?”
“No, but I care about you. I said.
Maybe my business is finally growing,” he said with a small smile.
“Wow. If it starts growing, I can come and work for you.” I joked
“I don't need your help,” he replied coldly, as he started walking away
I sighed. He always found a way to cover his self whenever he had the chance. But I didn't care anymore. I had my own job now, and I was earning my own money.
Suddenly, Dad grabbed his chest and dropped to his knees, coughing badly.
“Dad!” I rushed toward him and held his shoulder. “What's wrong?”
He kept coughing, struggling to catch his breath.
“Dad, please, what's wrong?”
I held his hand, terrified. He eventually pushed himself up and tried to walk toward the hallway.
Then Lilian ran towards us with fear in her eyes.
"what happened" she screamed as she tried holding his hands.
“Don't touch me. I'm fine,” he said weakly.
Then he coughed again.
This time, I saw blood.
My heart dropped.
“Dad!”
I reached for him, but he pulled away.
“I'm okay,” he insisted before stumbling out of the house.
I stood there frozen, completely terrified.
