*Kaine POV* Perfection. That was the only thing Kaine could think the moment he laid eyes on her. She was deliciously plump which gave her the most amazing curves. Pale skin with adorable freckles, hair like fire itself, warm brown eyes with a golden halo hugging it's center. Unbelievably sexy when she wet her lips. He almost devoured her on the spot. Ashen went crazy every time she spoke. No one ever had ever given him any pushback, because those that did all tended to have very short lives. It was always respect, fear or lust thrown at him. But when she did his blood didn't boil. No, it excited him. It amused him. He wanted more, hence why he insisted on her being his guide. Talk to him more, even harshly. He liked it all. Take her home. His wolf growled. He was barely paying attention to the vast training grounds. I can't. She's a witch, I can't accept her. She is our mate! Accept her, mark her, to Hell with the Elders or anyone else who objects! Speaking of those who objected, his Beta had been trying to mind link him ever since they started towards the training grounds. He blocked him out, unwilling to argue both with him and his wolf at the same time. The other girl, Grace, finally stopped looking like a caught rabbit. If anything now that she got used to them, she was staring quite boldly at him. As if she were any sort of threat. "As you can see, while we do practice our magic here it is a well rounded curriculum not focused on specifically battle. Each elemental has their own groups, but the few duel types switch off every other day." Kaine suddenly noticed the shirt female glaring at him as if to say, I noticed you're barely paying attention. He gave a toothy grin to prove her wrong. "How does your magic work? Spells? Familiars? Deals with demons?" He could never be with such an evil race, mate or no mate. She narrowed her eyes in fury, a hand tightening into a fist before she slowly unclenched it. "I see humans aren't the only ones who believe in superstition. Here I thought Werewolves were smarter than them." She never missed an opportunity to insult him. Again he marveled at how instead of wanting to kill her, he found it adorable, like a fluffed up kitten. Was this the mate bond, or was she truly this alluring? "Then enlighten me Witch." He growled intimidatingly, but he truly didn't mean it. He just wanted to see her reaction. Instead of shirking away like anyone else would, she met him head on. Crossing her arms and c*****g her hip. "We are naturally attuned with the Earth. Every Witch automatically has a affinity towards magic, as natural to use as breathing air or sleeping. No tricks, no deals, no familiars or pots, or even incantations. The more you use it, the better you get, like improving your running speed. We're not the monsters here you are." She almost spat, and this time he was genuinely annoyed. He needed her to not feel poorly about werewolves. It didn't matter an hour ago, but now her of all people needed to not hate werewolves. Because he was one. "I'd watch that tongue when you've never even stepped foot outside this town. Don't judge on what you've never seen." "Isn't it the same for you?" That single sentence froze him, and his inner wolf practically laughed at him for being put in his place. Perhaps he did have some unfounded prejudices. Frowning deeply, he motioned for them to continue. Occasionally he'd ask an earnest question, and the red head would answer in her characteristically feisty manner. He found himself hoping evening would never come.
