*Esmeralda POV*
Another stalemate meeting, filled with unanswered questions and barely hidden animosity. The other council members had already left, but the red haired witch remained behind for a reason she was not keen on. Alpha Kaine. She shot a look of obvious distaste at the tall man who was quietly giving orders to his subordinates. The dark haired one was Beta Heath, that much she knew. But the other she seldom seen and whose name escaped her. Her grey eyes flicked again to the man of her ire. Tall, impossibly muscular under that crisp white dress shirt and pants, sandy blonde and piercing blue eyes. Such a pretty boy should have been a model, not threatening their entire existence.
Part of her was anxious to get moving. Another wanted to stall as long as possible. Those old bastards, making her the unfortunate delegate. That prick of an Alpha made the ludicrous claim that he was bolstering his numbers due to feeling unsafe from our Covens, so in an act of good faith we were to show him our towns to show we had no armies. Immediately of course so that we couldn't hide it. But she loathed the idea of that bloodthirsty mutt being anywhere near Ophelia.
Any normal witch couldn't withstand any aggression from such a powerful wolf, and her dear Ophelia was the weakest of the weak. Worst, she had that insolent mouth. She'd offend the Alpha within 5 minutes and get her neck snapped for the trouble. They could not meet. Absolutely not.
"Stop staring Witch." Her gaze shot into focus again at the oppressive growl, making her repress a shudder. At some point Kaine had stopped talking to his team, the unknown wolf left to just have himself and his Beta. Who both were staring at her in unmasked distaste.
The red head scoffed, a thin hand moving from her lean frame to motion towards the portal the council graciously had opened for them. "I've been waiting for *you*. The sooner we leave, the sooner you leave for Devians Coven." The next unfortunate soul to do a tour. With that, she quickly walked out in clipped steps of her high heels, feeling the material of her black pencil skirt brushing against her skin.
Please. Please do let them meet. The older woman desperately thought. Please.

*Ophelia's POV*
Cruel. Torturous. Agonizing.
At least it was over. The last test of her life, unless of course she enrolled in online classes. But that was a decision for later. The teen closed her eyes as she leaned back in her chair, willing the migraine away that formed after the stress of today and staying up so late last night. She'd have to stop by the nurse for some painkillers, which were kept solely for her. In a large town full of witches, she was the only one who could not be healed magically. It really was like the universe wanted her dead. No magic to use on her own and no healing magic worked on her if she got hurt. It would be funny in a dark humor kind of way if her life wasn't on the line.
She pushed up from her desk and walked with the other last stragglers who were absent yesterday. Her teacher had eyed her suspiciously this morning when she shuffled in, only half buying Grace's cover up that she had been sick. But he couldn't voice it with complete certainty - after all everyone knew that Ophelia, daughter of the almighty and powerful witch Esmeralda, was a fragile weakling. If she was going to live with such a stigma might as well get some sort of benefit.
She walked down the hallway to the nurses office, who promptly tossed the bottle of painkillers upon entry. It was the only reason she ever came. She jiggled two pills out from the container before tossing the bottle back and then popping it into her mouth. "Thank you!" And then she was out of there, making a beeline for the exit. She had plans today with Cece, offering her a luxurious frappe at the Coffee Brew cafe in town. Grace was near perfect in every aspect, with a weakness for coffee. How she stayed so thin with daily intakes of super sweet frappes was beyond her. At least it gave her an easy treat to spoil her friend. If only she could shake this deep pit in her stomach and her migraine.
Something just didn't feel right.
