After a long busy day of dealing with paperwork, there's nothing that Alexander wanted but a glass of whiskey and a night of uninterrupted sleep. But, it seems that's not the case anymore. Instead of having a glass of whiskey, he thinks he might drown himself in alcohol for the whole night. After hearing a piece of news that surprised him and the people he knew. And, just like what he thought, he ends up having more than he could handle. He drank more than his maximum alcohol tolerance.
Thus, he woke up feeling lethargic and in pain. Alexander's heart and his head felt like it was about to break open, while his ears felt like bleeding due to his alarm. Despite the throbbing pain, he still gets up and makes himself a cup of ginger lemon tea for his hangover. He was already halfway through his cup of tea when the door of his room burst open.
"Alexander! My dear." Elaine, his mother, exclaimed while catching her breath. "Have you heard anything from Andrea? By any chance, did she contacted you?" She continued while walking towards her son.
Alexander was sitting beside the glass door of his room with his cup of tea in hand.
He stared at her mother with a puzzled expression. "I haven't heard anything from her today. Why? Is there something wrong?" He asked.
"It was that the Servante's contacted me and asked about Andrea." His mother replied with a worried expression on her face. "You really didn't hear anything from her? She didn't contact you?"
"I haven't heard anything from her, Mom." Alexander answered after putting down his halfway done cup of tea. "I knew that you knew it too, Mom. Andrea and I, rarely talk, or contacted each other."
"But, just in case, can you please contact her? It seems that there's something going on at the Servante's, something must have happened to Andrea. Can't you try contacting her?"
Alexander secretly heaved a sigh as he stared at her mother, who was pleading with him to do what she asked.
"Okay," he surrendered as he took out his phone from his pockets.
He dialed Andrea's phone number, but no one could reach Andrea, just like everyone in the Servante's manor. All he could hear was a never-ending ringing.
"She's not picking it up, Mom," Aaron said apologetically to his Mom, who became "I'll try contacting her. And, I'll inform you once she answer my call. So, stop worrying. Okay? . . . Mom?" He assured her.
"Okay. Thank you, my dear," Elaine answered. "It was just that from what they told us, it seems that Andrea ran away from home last night. And, they still can't find her, she's not picking up her phone too. That's why I'm worried about her," she continued while looking at her son with a worried expression on her face.
Elaine knew that his son didn't have any feelings for Andrea, but she knew that her son's heart was not made of stone. That's why she's hoping that her son will show some concern towards his fiancee.
"Andrea, never did this before. This was the first time she acted this way. What do we do, son?" Elaine asked Aaron, who was busy sorting out his thoughts.
He has a lot of things on his plate at the moment, and then, here they are with another concern.
"Can you please calm down, Mom?" he asked his mother, who was already walking back and forth in his room.
"Let me recover from my hangover first, then I'll help looking for her. Okay?"
"O-okay. Thank you." Elaine thanked him. "Finish your tea first, then we'll have our breakfast together. I'll cook something to help you with your hangover," she added as she tapped Alexander's shoulder before leaving his room.
Alexander just stared at his mother's back while slowly getting lost in his thoughts. He hasn't still gotten the grasp of the news he heard yesterday, and now here's another one he needs to mind. His heart literally broke into million pieces a few hours ago, and now her mother is not giving him time to accept his loss.
For almost an hour, Alexander did nothing but stare at the ceiling of his room. He wants to get mad but, to whom, and why he should be angry? There's nothing he could do. The girl he loves is already married to someone else. Alexander already lost his reason to decline what his parents wanted him to do. His reasonings and his heart shattered into million pieces, and he doesn't know how he would pick it up at the moment.
"F*ck this life!" Andrea cursed after reading one of the text messages she had received since she left their house. "Is this some kind of prank? What is this b*llsh*t?" she asked herself as she felt her tears starting to fall for the nth time. She hasn't reached the twelve-hour mark since she left, and here she is now, crying for the time.
She's lost; she doesn't understand the pain she's feeling at the moment. The pain she felt was now piling up, and now she felt broken more than she thought she was.
"Can't I just d*e now? Huh? What a sh*tty life is this? D*mn!" Andrea cursed as she slapped her forehead before she messed her hair, and then instead of crying, she began laughing like a mad man.
She's crying while laughing, she's in pain, and her head hurts like h*ll. And, if someone could see her through the tinted window of her car, everyone would immediately think that she's some crazy and psycho lady.
Andrea kept crying while clenching her fist, making her nails leave red marks on her palms. She just kept on crying her sorrows out until it felt like she didn't have any more drops of tears left in her body. And, just in time, after a few hours, Alexander finally arrived.
And Andrea finally saw Alexander's car coming; she immediately wiped her tears away and brushed her hair.
"Wha-" Alexander got cut off after seeing Andrea's appearance. "Are you alright?" he asked worriedly as he tucked Andrea's hair behind her ears. "What happened?"
"I'll tell you later," Andrea answered while she tried to hide her face from Alexander's gaze.
"Okay. For now, let's go," Alexander said while he guided Andrea towards his car. "Wear these," He added as he gave his hoodie that he packed together with the gym clothes he keeps in his car.
"I'll ask someone to take your car later." He added before he began driving. "Let's eat lunch first, and then you can tell me what's happening while were eating."
Andrea, just nodded as a reply before she closed her eyes. At the same time, Alexander continued driving without minding what she was doing.
"So, you also heard the news?" Alexander asked while they were having their brunch at his condo unit.
They just ordered take-out food since Andrea's not perfect enough to eat outside. And, Alexander thinks that it is better to eat indoors and have some privacy.
"About, Augustine," he continued as he studied Andrea's reaction.
But, Andrea's reaction remained stoic. It was as if she was done with everything, and she didn't care anymore. He remained staring at her for a few more seconds until Andrea looked up to him with the same stoic expression.
"About what? The news about his wedding yesterday?" Andrea said nonchalantly as if she knew about a long time ago. When, in fact, she just learned about that a few hours ago. "The fact that he, and Elizabeth, got married yesterday surprised all of their friends. After seeing their civil wedding photos in their respective social media accounts, announcing their marriage."
Both of them became silent after that. Andrea and Alexander contemplate how they would comfort each other after knowing that the persons they loved are now married to each other. And how are they going to console each other's broken hearts?
