Chapter 3:Rebirth

Serena opened her eyes and found herself in an unfamiliar room. The room was rich, with luxurious furniture, and the scent of pine and earth filled her nostrils. She immediately sat upright; her heart was racing, and beads of sweat were forming on her face. What was this place? And why was she here? Her last memory was Evan's cold eyes smirking at her as she struggled for breath after Mira had injected her with Wolfsbane. She saw a flicker of light after that before she woke up gasping for air, and now she finds herself in unfamiliar surroundings. Her hands flew to her chest, expecting to feel the familiar form of her body. Instead, she felt muscle, more powerful than she ever remembered. She scrambled off the bed, stumbling toward a mirror across the room. The reflection staring back at her was not her own. It was a striking woman with fierce green eyes, high cheekbones, and an aura of strength. Serena took a step back, her mind reeling. This wasn't her body. This wasn't her face. She remembered the pain, the wolfsbane, and the cold betrayal of Evan and Mira. But now, she was alive—in someone else's body. Panic surged through her, but she forced herself to breathe, to think. If she was alive, there had to be a reason. A soft knock on the door snapped her out of her thoughts. The door opened, and a tall, muscular man with intense blue eyes entered. He carried an air of authority and power. Alina?" he said, his voice was deep. "Are you alright? You seemed restless." Serena stared at him, her mind struggling to process everything. Alina. That must be the name of this body. "I... I'm fine," she managed to say, her voice unfamiliar to her own ears. The man studied her, his eyes narrowing slightly. "You don't seem fine. Is something troubling you?" Serena took a deep breath, trying to gather her thoughts. "Just a strange dream," she lied. "I'm still shaking it off.” “You should be resting, you know you're just recovering from a major illness, “ The man said as he gently took her by the arms and led her back to bed. “It might be the potions causing the nightmares. The doctor said there could be some unpleasant reactions.” “Major illness?” Serena asked. She didn't feel sick. In fact, she felt healthier and more powerful than she had ever felt. “Yes, can't you remember?” He asked, giving her a curious look. “We almost lost you, we had to source for one of the best healers to help us. I guess his potions worked well. You seem better.” Damon noticed the confused expression on Serena's face. "I'm Damon, your mate. Remember?” The word "mate" hit Serena like a punch to the gut. She had been Evan’s mate, but he had betrayed her in the worst way possible. And now, she had a new mate—a stranger named Damon. She had to play along, at least until she understood what was happening. "Of course, Damon," she said, forcing a smile. "I just need some time to clear my head.” Damon leaned closer, wrapping his arms around her in a comforting embrace. "Take all the time you need, Alina. You've been through a lot, and I’m here for you." Serena stiffened at his touch, but she didn't pull away. She needed to keep up appearances. "Thank you," she whispered. Damon pulled back slightly, looking into her eyes. " We have a meeting with the council today. The Blood Moon Pack needs our leadership now more than ever. Will you be able to come along? I'm sure they'll be glad to see their Luna again.” Serena nodded. The Blood Moon Pack. She had heard of them. They were bitter rivals to the Silver Moon Pack and one of the strongest packs known for their fierce warriors. If she was their Luna, then she had a new role to play. She also knew she had to keep her identity a secret as she came from a rival pack. "I’ll be ready," Serena said. Damon kissed her forehead and left the room, leaving Serena alone with her thoughts. She had been given a second chance, a new life. And the only thing she could think about was exacting revenge on her killers. She had to find a way back to the Silver Moon Pack and make Evan and Mira pay for what they had done to her. But first, she needed to understand her new reality. She dressed quickly, choosing clothes that felt natural and strong. As she looked in the mirror, she saw not just Alina, but a new version of herself—one filled with a burning desire for revenge. The meeting with the council was held in a large, ornate room. As Serena entered, all eyes turned to her. Damon stood at the head of the table, his presence commanding respect. "Alina, please join us," he said, with a warm voice. Serena took her place beside him. She listened attentively as they discussed pack matters—territory disputes, training schedules, and alliances. "You were quiet today. Are you sure you’re alright?” Damon asked after the meeting had concluded. Serena nodded, giving him a reassuring smile. " I guess I'm still recovering and didn't want to expend much energy. I'll be more engaged next time“ Serena lied. “I understand, I shouldn't have asked you to come so soon. I just wanted the pack to see that their Luna is getting better.” Damon said, as he tenderly held her hands. Over the next few days, Serena immersed herself in the life of Alina. She trained with the warriors, learning the skills and tactics that made the Blood Moon Pack formidable. She spent time with Damon, trying to understand their bond and his leadership style. But always, in the back of her mind, was the burning desire for revenge. She couldn’t rest until she had confronted Evan and Mira until she had made them pay for their betrayal. One evening, as she walked through the pack’s territory, she found herself near the edge of the forest. A rustle in the bushes caught her attention, and she turned to see a figure emerging from the shadows. It was the stranger who had visited the Silver Moon Pack—the man who had asked about Serena. Her heart pounded as he approached, his eyes were sharp. "Serena, I finally found you," he said, his voice low and intense.
