CHAPTER SEVEN - FLASHBACK.

1332 Words
Joan's POV The moment I stepped out of his car. I half walked and half ran inside the compound. I regretted not taking my car back as I saw the long path between the gate and the main house. The men on duty at the gate greeted me and wondered why I wasn't with my car. They looked at me partly with pity amd amusement. There were no cars around the gate that could take me down. "Ma'am wait a minute let's get someone to bring a car out and pick you up." One of the men offered. "Don't worry it won't be necessary." I objected. It won't hurt exercising a little. It was fun spending time with Louis today. Would it hurt to develop a relationship with him? I can no longer deny the attraction I am beginning to feel for him. I thought about the first relationship I was close to having and shook my head to clear my thoughts but it seemed stock. I couldn't bring my self to think of the past. The worst and best things happened to me fifteen years ago. **Flash back** Thirty minutes more for the party to commence as I touched up my make up. Jaimie's boyfriend Julius is throwing a party and Jaimie asked me to accompany her as usual. I waited at the front porch for Jaimie. The night was clear and bright. Just the best time best weather for the party. I put on a blue strapless short satin dress with a slit from my knee to mid thigh. I clutched my bag in front of me as I waited for Jaimie at the front porch. I was considering going back into the house to get flatter hills when Jaimie pulled up. "You look stunning." Jaimie complimented as I got into the car. "Thank you. You look amazing." I kissed her cheeks and she drove off. We got to the party and it was screaming lit from all directions. The house was filled with a lot of people. There were a few unfamiliar faces. I made my way to the kitchen to get drinks for us. Jaimie was stuck with greeting her whole lot of friends so I had to get hers. "Hey watch where you're going." It was too late. This very handsome dude spilled his drink on me while doing whatever it was he was doing on his phone. From the scent of the drink, I was guessing it was glenfiddich a really scotchy whiskey. It was one of my dad's favorite drink and the smell was stuck to my senses. "So sorry pretty girl..." He dropped what was left of his drink on the counter and brought out a bandana and offered me. "Thank you." I lowered my head and dabbed the drink off my dress. "I'm really sorry I wasn't paying attention." "It's no problem. It would dry off soon." I handed his bandana back to him. "Let's get you another dress." He offered. "That's not necessary. I doubt I would be staying long." "Ok. If you insist." He walked past me and left the kitchen. Damn. He was dripping so much hormones I doubt I would have been able to hold myself back if he had stayed here a minute more. I got toma classic for Jaimie and I and returned to the party. Jaimie was not where I left her she was probably somewhere with Julius. I searched close by for her but she wasn't in sight. I sat at a couch by the corner and took my drink leisurely while waiting for Jaimie that's if she ever showed up. I greeted a few people I was very familiar with. I was done with my drink and Jaimie wasn't back. I noticed the guy that bumped into me earlier sitting across the room. From time to time we made eye contact and I withdrew my eye first but each time I withdrew my eye I found myself taking a peek at him again. His eyes were alluring and attractive. I finished Jamie's drink after mine and went to the kitchen for a refill. I dabbed my face with water from the kitchen sink. I had to calm down before entering the room again. I have come across a lot of handsome guys but this guy was releasing a different energy. There were two bottles of wine sitting at the top of a high cupboard. I was sure they were strong drinks but I wasn't sure of how strong they were for them to be hidden away. I used a stool to elevate myself and got the drinks. I filled my cup and Jamie's and went back to the party. I took my seat and looked towards where he was seated but he wasn't there any more. I glanced around for him and fortunately or unfortunately he wasn't around. I browsed through my phone and took a gulp of my drink. The liquid burned down my throat. I coughed. I wasn't expecting it to be that strong. I mixed it with the drink in Jaimie's glass since I put a different drink for her. I couldn't place a finger on it's taste but it still felt hot. "Whisky and vodka. Such a bold mixture." He whispered beside my ear as I felt my seat sink. His breath tickled my ear. I inhaled his scent as it wafted through my nose. His every scent screamed cedar with a mix of vanilla. Not a bad combination. "Hey." I raised my voice so he would hear me with the loud music and all. He was the same guy that bumped into me earlier. "You shouldn't take something this hot if it's your first time." "You don't know it's my first time." I rolled my eyes at him in my head. But was it so obvious it was my first time? I took a sip and swallowed it slowly hoping he didn't notice. I didn't want him to see me as a newbie in drinking. "If you insist then." He shrugged his shoulders. "If you don't mind can we step out a bit. The noise here is much." I nodded my head at him and lead the way to the balcony at the first floor. Julius' house was where most parties were held so I was quite familiar with the layout and mostly because I have accompanied Jaimie to visit him a few times before. "Why are you at a party when you don't flow with the vibes?" He asked when we got to the balcony. "I accompanied a friend here." I adjusted a few fringes of my hair the wind blew out of place. "And you didn't think of bringing your boyfriend along to atleast accompany you?" "Quite unfortunate I don't have one." "Tell me you're lying." He raised one of his eye brows at me. "I am not." I chuckled. "So it means you're single and I won't get punched by any one for trying my luck." I looked up at his his handsome features. He had beautiful eyes and a pointed nose with thin lips to accentuate his beautiful face. "You're so beautiful. How is it that you don't have a boyfriend?" I shrugged my shoulders at him and he pinched my cheeks and smiled at me. I was slowly falling in love with his personality. I gulped down the whole glass and felt my throat burn. "Hey calm down with your intake." He said and handed me a glass of milk I didn't notice he has been with all along. I collected the glass of milk and our hands brushed. I felt a jolt of electricity flow through me. Without thinking, I wrapped my hands around his neck, tiptoed and kissed him. This wasn't right but it felt so good. The mix of whatever it was that I took blended with the taste of milk from his mouth and I have never felt so intoxicated.
