Chapter 4 Rosalba's view My head now aches and I felt totally blank that I couldn't even say a word, but soon enough I noticed the presence of Gabon, Enzo and Jake in the class with us. It now began to look like we both felt blank as Lucas stood right before me with his mouth shut and his eyeballs ramping over me with so much resentment. “Is this some kind of a mute competition?” Enzo blurted out, breaking the awkward silence. Lucas still kept mute like he had nothing to say to me, I tried avoiding eye contact with his eyeballs that now looked fiery like a raging fire. “How do I tell the park that this piece of trash is my fated mate?” He growled, his voice was dark sounding like it came from a pit of hell “The Moon Goddess must be wicked to think I will stoop so low to mark someone like you as my mate” Lucas yelled, his voice thick with resentment Gabon tried to stop him from using foul languages on the Moon Goddess but he wouldn't stop. I couldn't even utter a word as I stood numbly. I felt empty and my heart burned with so much hatred for him. “I will not be bound to you Lucas!” I blurted out as tears broke down my eyes and my heart burned with unbearable pain as if it were engulfed in flames. “I reject you too, never would I accept you as my mate, you b***h!” Lucas thundered with so much rancor. “Don't call me that!” I blurted out angrily. “I will call you whatever I want!” He snarled, stepping closer. “b***h” I shot out my hand and slapped him across his face. The force of the blow made him stagger, momentarily losing his balance. Immediately, I bolted for the door and dashed out of the class, leaving Gabon, Enzo, and Jake effortless as they held up to Lucas to keep his stability. Lucas's view As I struggled to find my balance, my cheek burned from the slap. I clenched my fists, rage boils within me. The humiliation was too much to bear, and I wasn't about to let her get away with it. I turned over to Gabon, Jake, and Enzo who were standing behind me and concern etched on their faces. “This isn't over” I muttered “we need to teach her a lesson” Gabon raised an eyebrow. "What are you thinking?" “We kidnap her. After school closes, we'll grab her when she's alone." I retorted Jake looked uneasy. "Are you sure about this? This could cause a lot of trouble." “She needs to understand that she can't defy me and get away with it. Are you with me or not?" I declared, my voice was slightly raised. Gabon and Enzo nodded in agreement, but Jake hesitated before finally agreeing with a nod. "Good," I continued. "Here's the plan. We wait until the school is empty. Enzo will help us; he's good with locks and knows the school's layout. We'll corner her near the old gym. Once we have her, we'll take her to the dense forest. She'll have nowhere to run." ******* The sun had set, and the school grounds were eerily quiet. I, Gabon, and Jake met Enzo at the edge of the school property. Enzo was a wiry, cunning wolf with a knack for getting into places he shouldn't. "Is everything ready?" I asked. Enzo nodded. "The old gym's back door is unlocked. No one will see us." "Perfect," I retorted with a sinister smile spreading across my face. "Let's go." We moved silently through the shadows, carefully and vigilantly. As we approached the gym, we saw Rosalba walking towards the back exit, completely unaware of the trap. "Now," I whispered. Enzo moved swiftly, blocking Rosalba's path. Before she could react, Gabon had grabbed her arms, holding her firmly. Jake stood guard, ensuring no one was around. “Let go of me!" Rosalba shouted, struggling against his grip. Rosalba's view. I stayed a little later than usual after school, wanting to finish up my notes. The classroom was quiet, and I found solace in the silence. As the last rays of sunlight faded, I finally packed my things and headed out. The halls were empty, and my footsteps echoed softly as I walked. It was strange to feel so alone in a place usually buzzing with activity. As I walked along the path towards the back exit, the cool evening air brushed against my skin, sending a slight shiver down my spine. I was so lost in thought that I didn't notice the shadowy figures lurking in the corners. Suddenly, Enzo appeared in front of me, blocking my path. Before I could react, someone, who I later found out to be Gabon had grabbed my arms, his grips painfully tight. Lucas stepped forward, his eyes cold. "You should have thought twice before defying me, Rosalba." "You're insane!" I spat, trying to kick free. Gabon tightened his grip and I let out a painful growl. "Stop fighting. It's pointless." They dragged me out of the school and into the dense forest. Fear clawed at my throat as I struggled against their grip. They hauled me deeper into the woods, where the trees grew thicker and the shadows longer. In the forest, Lucas stood before me with satisfaction gleaming in his eyes as I struggled against the ropes binding me to the ancient oak tree. The coarse hem dug into my flesh and my wrists burned from the rough fibers. "You can't treat me like this, Lucas," I mumbled, my voice trembling with a mix of fear and fury. "Oh, but I can," Lucas replied, his tone chilling. "You need to learn your place." Enzo, Gabon, and Jake stood by, watching the scene unfold. The night was dark and full of the unknown, and the line between Bryde park and Blue Moon park blurred in the shadows of the old cabin. “Is this about me rejecting you? Is that why you’re so mad like a dog? Because I didn’t fall at your feet? Because I don't fit into your narrow-minded little world? You're cowards, all of you!" I blurted out angrily. “Enough!” Lucas thundered as he swung his hand with brutal force, and the sharp crack of the slap echoed through the night as pain exploded across my face, my vision blurring with the intensity of the blow. “You’re nothing but a thorn in my side. You think you're better than us? You think you're better than me? You’re a failed wolf!” Lucas yelled, his eyes were fiery like a raging fire. Blood trickled from my split lip, the metallic taste flooding my mouth as the sting of the slap reverberated through my skull. "I think I'm human, Something you seem to have forgotten." I declared, my voice was slightly raised “Lucas, maybe we should just leave her," Jake muttered, nervously glancing around the dark forest." "Shut up, Jake!" Lucas snapped. "We're doing this." "Why, Lucas?" I whispered, my voice broken but strong. "Because I rejected you? Because I dared to say no?" "Shut up!" Lucas screamed, his face contorted with rage. "You think I care about that? You think I wanted you? You're nothing but a—" "A reminder that you can't control everything," I interrupted. "That not everyone will bow to you." Gabon, standing a few feet away, shifted uncomfortably. "Lucas, this isn't right. We should go." "Stay out of this, Gabon!" Lucas barked, his eyes never leaving me. "She needs to pay." "And you, Lucas? What will you pay? What price will you pay for your hatred, your fear?" U said to Lucas, my voice came out hoarse. "Shut up!" Lucas roared, raising the knife. "I'm done listening to you!" Just as he was about to strike, a low, guttural growl echoed through the trees. The men froze, their eyes darting around in panic. From the shadows emerged a monstrous figure, its eyes glowing with a predatory light. The werewolf, massive and terrifying, stepped into the clearing, its fangs bared and claws glinting. The men’s bravado crumbled as they faced the beast. "Run! Get out of here!" Lucas shouted, his voice raw with fear as he dropped the knife and stumbled backward. Gabon, Jake, and Enzo turned to flee, their terror palpable. The werewolf lunged at Lucas, its powerful form a blur of motion. He barely managed to scramble away, the beast’s claws missing him by inches. Gabon wasn't so lucky; the werewolf caught him with a swipe, sending him sprawling to the ground with a cry of pain. I watched, my heart pounding, as Lucas and his remaining accomplices fled into the forest. The werewolf shifted back into human form, revealing a tall, muscular man with dark hair and intense blue eyes with grey sparks. “Thank you,” I managed to say, my voice barely a whisper. He nodded, his expression softening. “You’re safe now. My name is Rylan. I’ve been watching over you.” “Why?” I asked, bewildered. “Because your park doesn’t deserve you,” he replied simply. “And because you’re stronger than you know.” At that moment, I realized my life would never be the same. Fate had taken a twisted turn, and my destiny was now intertwined with a new ally—and perhaps a new beginning.
